The incumbent is responsible for on the job training, and work performance evaluation of subordinate staff. Other duties include maintaining custodial materials and supplies inventory, submitting purchase requisitions, stores, and issues paper supplies, chemical supplies, and necessary equipment required to maintain the facility in clean and sanitary conditions for students and staff. CSDR is a residential school that has various types of classrooms, offices, workrooms, living areas, and multi-purpose activity spaces to maintain.
Work Schedule: This is a (12) month position and works through Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer academic breaks. The regular hours are 11am -730pm Monday through Thursday and 8am - 430 pm on Friday, with weekends and state observed holidays off. This position may be required to work outside of normal working hours based on operational need and for providing support to various school events.

Working Conditions
Subject to fingerprinting and criminal record clearance by the Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigation and Tuberculosis clearance.

**EXAMINATION**
Interested candidates new to State service, as well as current State employees who do not have lateral transfer eligibility, must take and pass the examination for this classification to obtain list eligibility prior to applying. List eligibility is established by meeting the minimum qualifications outlined in the examination bulletin and achieving a passing score on the exam.

Desirable Qualifications
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and overtime.
- Experience operating standard custodial equipment such as floor buffers, strippers, and scrubbers.
- 1-2 years experience in a supervisory or lead capacity. State agency experience preferred.
- Experience with purchasing, contracts, invoice approval, and record keeping. Working knowledge of FI$Cal and Microsoft Office preferred.
- Be a team player with the ability to make sound decisions in identifying problems and finding resolutions.
- Ability to exercise initiative, independence, and lead custodial staff to meet the school mission.
- Experience working in a school or campus setting.
- Knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL), or willingness to learn.

ADDITIONAL SALARY INFORMATION
Effective July 1, 2025, the California Department of Human Resources (CalHR) implemented the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025). PLP 2025 directs that each employee shall receive a 3 percent reduction in pay in exchange for 5 hours PLP 2025 leave credits, monthly. The salary range(s) included in the job advertisement do not reflect the 3 percent reduction in pay.
