Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough patient assessments to determine medical conditions, utilizing medical terminology and diagnostic tools such as medical imaging.
- Develop and implement personalized treatment plans aligned with best practices in general medicine and specialized fields like pediatrics, oral surgery, or prosthodontics as needed.
- Perform medical procedures including dental extractions, root canal therapy, and other interventions requiring aseptic technique and infection control protocols.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical documentation and records in compliance with HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality and legal standards.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care, including dental professionals for integrated treatment approaches.
- Educate patients on health management, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote long-term wellness.
- Stay current with advancements in medical and dental terminology, procedures, and technology such as Epic, Eaglesoft, or Dentrix software systems for efficient record-keeping and patient management.
- Ensure adherence to all safety protocols related to infection control, medical imaging, anatomy knowledge, and dental fabrication processes.
- Participate in continuous professional development activities to enhance clinical skills in areas like endodontics, pediatrics, or oral surgery.
- Uphold the highest standards of patient care by demonstrating excellent communication skills and empathy during all interactions.
Requirements
- Valid medical license with current certification to practice as a Physician within the relevant jurisdiction.
- Proven experience working in a dental or medical clinic environment with familiarity using dental office software such as Epic, Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, general dentistry procedures, pediatric dentistry, oral surgery techniques including dental extractions and root canal therapy.
- Proficiency in interpreting medical imaging and understanding anatomy relevant to dental and general health conditions.
- Experience performing procedures requiring aseptic technique and infection control measures.
- Ability to accurately document medical records while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
- Excellent patient care skills with a focus on assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and follow-up care for diverse patient populations including pediatrics.
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with team members and clear explanation of treatment options to patients.
- Knowledge of prosthodontics procedures and dental fabrication processes is a plus.
- Prior experience working with electronic health record systems such as Epic or Dentrix is preferred.
