Riphah International University is seeking a skilled Dental Surgery Assistant with 1 to 3 years of experience to join their dental department. The ideal candidate plays a vital role in supporting dentists during various dental procedures by efficiently preparing equipment, managing dental materials, and ensuring patient comfort throughout the treatment process. This position requires a strong understanding of infection control protocols and dental instrument handling to maintain a sterile environment and promote patient safety. The Dental Surgery Assistant works closely with dentists but does not manage a team, focusing on delivering excellent chairside assistance and enhancing the overall patient experience. The candidate must hold a diploma or certification in Dental Surgery Assisting and possess comprehensive knowledge of dental terminology, procedures, and instruments. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential to welcome patients, explain procedures clearly, and provide reassurance. This position demands attentiveness to detail while preparing the dental chair and materials, all while ensuring stringent adherence to infection control and sterilization standards before, during, and after dental operations. Commit to maintaining high standards of patient care and operational efficiency within the dental clinic setting.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare the dental chair and surgical area according to the specific requirements of each dental procedure to create a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Welcome patients and explain the treatment process in a clear and compassionate manner to ensure their comfort and confidence before procedures begin.
  • Assist the dentist by passing instruments, materials, and supplies during dental surgeries and treatments in a timely and organized manner.
  • Mix and prepare dental materials such as cements, fillings, and impression materials accurately and efficiently for use during dental procedures.
  • Maintain strict sterilization and infection control protocols to ensure all tools, instruments, and the surgical area are free from contaminants before, during, and after every procedure.
  • Handle dental instruments and materials with care, ensuring all equipment is in proper working order and readily available to prevent delays during procedures.
  • Monitor patient comfort and observe their condition during dental procedures, promptly reporting any concerns or irregularities to the dentist.
  • Keep detailed records of procedures, materials used, and patient interactions in accordance with clinic policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide support in managing inventory by tracking dental instruments and materials, alerting the team to reorder supplies as needed to maintain an uninterrupted workflow.
  • Adhere to all health and safety guidelines and participate in ongoing training and development activities to stay current with best practices in dental assisting and infection control.
