Position InformationMonaro High School is a comprehensive rural high school located in Cooma that proudly serves the communities of the Monaro district. Our 370 students from Year 7 12 come from a range of cultural and socio economic backgrounds, creating an inclusive and diverse school community. The school offers a quality academic, vocational curriculum and student wellbeing support to accommodate all students. Monaro High School boasts state of the art facilities thanks to a recently completed, multi million dollar upgrade. Facilities include a 350 seat performing arts centre, an innovation hub with professional standard recording and digital media studios, an indoor 3 court sports centre, a specialised outdoor play area for students with disabilities and contemporary teaching spaces throughout the school.
Monaro High benefits from being situated in the beautiful town of Cooma. It is conveniently located between Canberra, the Snowy Mountains and the South Coast, making opportunities to ski, surf or shop in a major city only a short drive away. The town has access to Canberra International Airport only an hour away, making quick connection to the town and the rest of the world.
The Deputy Principal Inclusion & Support is a strategic, non teaching, leadership role dedicated to inclusion, with a focus on leading improvement in the learning, wellbeing, and independence of students with disabilities. The Deputy Principal Inclusion & Support shares the broader educational imperatives of the Deputy Principal position but with the explicit focus of driving a school wide culture of inclusion, including high expectations and improved outcomes for students with disability.
The role is located in mainstream schools with seven or more support classes and is aligned to the Department's Deputy Principal role statement, emphasising: Leading Teaching & Learning, Developing Self & Others, Leading Improvement, Innovation & Change, Leading the Management of the School, Engaging & Working with the Community.
Specific Selection CriteriaAn unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
All Department of Education employees working in an SSP are required to be vaccinated as outlined at Vaccination requirements for school sites (nsw.gov.au). The successful candidate for this position will be required to confirm vaccination status prior to the department finalising their appointment and entry on duty.
