The Design Engineer will be responsible for the design and analysis of piling and shoring systems, ensuring safe, efficient, and economical design solutions for foundation and retaining projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare designs and calculations for piling systems (e.g., bored piles, CFA piles and micro piles).
- Develop and design shoring systems and temporary retaining structures, such as secant and contiguous pile walls, sheet piles,
- soldier pile walls, diaphragm walls, anchors, and struts.
- Carry out geotechnical and structural analysis using design software (e.g., PLAXIS, WALLAP, Oasys, SAFE, STAAD, or similar).
- Interpret geotechnical investigation reports and provide appropriate foundation and retaining wall solutions.
- Prepare technical drawings, design sketches, and reports for internal review and client submission.
- Ensure all designs comply with Eurocodes, ACI & BS standards, and local authority regulations.
- Provide technical support to project and site teams during construction, addressing design queries and modifications.
- Participate in tender design preparation, offering value engineering solutions to optimize cost and performance.
- Conduct design risk assessments and assist in developing method statements.
- Attend technical meetings and site visits to review design implementation and provide engineering input.
- Coordinate with consultants, clients, and subcontractors on technical design aspects.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering (Master’s preferred).
- 3–5 years of experience in design engineering within a piling, shoring, or geotechnical contracting company.
- Strong knowledge of piling systems, shoring methods, and temporary works design.
- Proficient in AutoCAD and relevant design software (e.g., PLAXIS, WALLAP, Oasys, SAFE, STAAD Pro).
- Good understanding of soil–structure interaction, ground behavior, and foundation design principles.
