Director of Central Planning
Role Summary
The Director of Central Planning is the cross-functional heartbeat connecting Sales, Supply Chain, and Operations. This leader owns operational forecasting, procurement strategy, inventory management, and production planning to ensure the right materials are in the right place at the right time—at the right cost. They will architect and run an integrated S&OP/S&OE cadence, translate demand into capacity-feasible production plans, mitigate PPV to protect margins, and proactively communicate schedule shifts both directions between Sales and Operations. Success looks like predictable customer lead times, stable throughput, healthy inventory turns, disciplined cost control while leading a team.
Key Responsibilities:
Demand & Operational Forecasting (S&OP/S&OE)
  • Own monthly S&OP and build a consensus demand plan using sales pipeline, historical, and external signals.
  • Run weekly S&OE to course-correct near-term imbalances, execute allocation decisions, and stabilize the shop schedule.
  • Deliver clear forecast accuracy metrics (MAPE, bias) and action plans to improve.
Supply Chain & Procurement Strategy
  • Set the material flow strategy (MOQ, lead time, buffers, supplier calendars) to meet plan at lowest landed cost.
  • Negotiate to mitigate PPV and preserve margins.
  • Build dual-sourcing and risk heatmaps for phenolic, veneers, and specialty hardware.
  • Partner with Finance on standard cost updates and variance tracking.
Central Planning & Scheduling
  • Lead inventory policy by item class, safety stock and reorder logic.
  • Drive cycle-count accuracy, annual physicals, and target turns.
  • Publish an aging report with clear disposition paths.
  • Translate the demand plan into capacity-feasible MPS/MRP, balancing labor cells, CNC/router centers, laminating/press, finishing, kitting, and assembly.
  • Own the master schedule and frozen horizons while maintaining clear WIP visibility.
  • Establish rough-cut capacity and finite scheduling rules; highlight bottlenecks and run-rate gaps.
Customer Success Management
  • Communicate schedule risk, expedites, and recovery plans.
  • Provide Sales with throughput analysis, efficiency challenges, and capacity availability.
  • Define customer promise-date rules and change-order cutoffs to protect flow.
Systems, Data, & Analytics
  • Ensure system integrity (item masters, BOMs, routings, calendars).
  • Implement planning analytics: capacity dashboards, forecast accuracy, OTIF, past-due, and schedule adherence.
  • Champion planning tool enhancements and forecast improvements.
Qualifications:
5–10+ years in supply chain, demand, or production planning; 4+ years in a leadership role.
Deep knowledge of S&OP/S&OE, MPS/MRP, finite scheduling, and inventory control.
ERP planning mastery (e.g., NetSuite, Dynamics, SAP, Oracle) and strong Excel/analytics skills.
APICS/ASCM certifications (CPIM, CSCP, or S&OP certificate) preferred.

Hollman offers a team-focused work environment with a competitive salary, plus benefits including health, dental, and vision insurance, as well as a 401(k) plan with matching contributions.
