Position Summary

This Director of Finance and HR role is crucial in maintaining Salvo’s financial, human resources, and office administration systems, ensuring the seamless operation of our core business functions. By supporting these essential organizational systems, the position plays a vital part in helping the entire Salvo Soccer team achieve high-quality, cost-effective programming goals every day.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management and Oversight (50%)

  • Oversee all aspects of financial operations, including accounts payable and receivable, cash flow management, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Prepare, analyze, and present monthly financial statements to leadership and the Board of Directors.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process, collaborating with department heads to align financial resources with club goals.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and tax requirements, including year-end audits, financial filings, and tax documentation (990, W-2s, 1099s, etc.).
  • Maintain strong internal financial controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard the organization’s assets.

Human Resources and Payroll Administration (40%)

  • Oversee payroll processing, ensuring accuracy in pay calculations, tax withholdings, and compliance with labor laws.
  • Maintain and regularly update the Employee Handbook, implementing best practices to support an inclusive and compliant work environment.
  • Manage the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, performance evaluations, and terminations.
  • Administer benefits programs, including retirement plans
  • Conduct background checks, verify employment eligibility (I-9 compliance), and maintain accurate employee records.
  • Act as a point of contact for all HR-related matters, fostering a positive workplace culture and addressing employee concerns as needed

Financial Analysis; Organizational Leadership (10%)

  • Provide financial forecasts and strategic insights to support decision-making by leadership and the Board of Directors.
  • Conduct financial analysis on the profitability of programs, teams, and events, identifying opportunities for cost savings or revenue growth.
  • Collaborate with the Operations and Technical leadership teams to ensure financial alignment with club initiatives.
  • Advise leadership on workforce planning, compensation structures, and organizational development strategies

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or related field; HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in nonprofit finance and HR, including budgeting, reporting, compliance, and policy development
  • Proficiency with accounting systems, HRIS, Microsoft 365, and Minnesota employment law
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills; able to manage confidential information with integrity

Dimensions:

Employment Conditions: Exempt

Salary Range: $80,000-100,000. Note that the salary range is a reasonable attempt to provide market competitive salaries for non-profit employees. Actual salary offers depend on experience and will be determined after the interview process.

Position includes access to 401K, with employer match

Reports To: Executive Director

Environment: Hybrid option, including some days at the office in Eagan, MN

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
