Position Summary:
The US HR Director is responsible for leading and managing all Human Resources functions across the Saginaw, MI and Everett, WA facilities. This strategic role ensures alignment of HR practices with business objectives, fosters a positive and compliant work environment, and supports organizational growth through effective talent management, labor relations, and employee engagement, compliance with reporting requirements of regulatory agencies and Federal and State law interpretation. The Director will oversee HR teams at both sites and collaborate with global HR leadership to implement consistent policies and initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Compliance
  • Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with business goals and corporate values.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, including ITAR, FAA/DOT, EEO, VETS, AAP, and AS9100 standards.
  • Lead organizational development initiatives to promote a culture of continuous improvement and employee engagement.
  • Annual performance appraisals including training of managers, goal setting, talent development, succession planning, compensation planning and on-time completion
  • Lead the HR team in executing day-to-day HR operations, including recruitment, onboarding, training, performance management, and employee relations.
  • Performance of Internal audits within the company and department.
  • Assisting on External audits for Quality, FAA/DOT, IT, Compliance and other departments when needed.
Talent Acquisition & Development
  • Oversee full-cycle recruitment and onboarding processes across both sites.
  • Understand all and provide support for all aspects of recruiting including, but not limited to, writing job descriptions, use of approved social media, posting open positions, working with recruiters, screening resumes, scheduling and participating in interviews, preparing job offers, handling pre-employment testing, onboarding and running the employee referral program.
  • Drive talent development, succession planning, and performance management programs.
  • Facilitate training programs, including leadership development and compliance training.
  • AS9100D Training Procedure which includes keeping all training documents.
  • 30-day and 90-day new employee evaluations.
Labor Relations & Employee Engagement
  • Manage union relations, including contract negotiations, grievance resolution, and arbitration.
  • Serve as a key liaison in union meetings, joint activities, and apprentice program coordination.
  • Support managers in employee relations, disciplinary actions, and performance improvement plans.
  • Leads/participates in Union meetings, training team, joint activities team, staff meetings, Management Review meetings and scheduling apprentice courses.
  • Handle employee grievances and disciplinary actions in compliance with company policies and applicable laws.
HR Operations & Benefits Administration
  • Supervise payroll, benefits, time and attendance, and leave management, ethics training and complaints and all HR Specialist/Generalist duties and activities.
  • Knowledge and administration of various Benefit programs/Bonus such as STI Bonus, 401k, Medical, and others.
  • Knowledge and implication of FMLA, Short-term/Long-term Disability, and other leaves.
  • Ensure competitive compensation structures, effective benefits programs, and compliance of benefits with HR systems.
  • Oversee HR systems and reporting, including Affirmative Action Plans and HR metrics analysis, EEO and Vets reporting.
  • Prepare the holiday calendar, organizational announcements, organizational charts.
Communication & Culture
  • Promote transparent communication through organizational announcements, employee handbooks, and policy updates.
  • Lead initiatives to foster a respectful, inclusive, and high-performing workplace culture.
  • Creates, distributes, posts and trains employees on the employee handbook, code of conduct, new regulations, required posters, among others.

Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 10 years’ experience in Human Resources.
  • 5 years’ experience in a Human Resources Management position.
  • Previous experience in dealing with a broad spectrum of employee issues including employee counseling and leadership counseling.
  • Ability to manage conflict.
  • 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • 5 years’ experience in a Unionized environment preferred.
  • Previous Union contract negotiation experience.
  • Proficient in Federal and State laws that apply to employment (wage and hour, leaves of absence, etc.).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills include comfort in making. presentations, facilitating discussions, and delivering disciplines and terminations.
  • Ability to multi-task during various levels of interruption.
  • Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
  • Experience in an aerospace and defense industries preferred.
  • Experience with Paycor preferred.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position leads one or more operational teams. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems
Language, Reasoning and Speaking Ability:
Ability to read and interpret documents, write reports, correspondence, contract language and job descriptions that are complex in nature. Ability to speak effectively before groups of people.
Computer Skills:
Must be computer literate, and knowledgeable in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
