COTTAGE (Early Childhood)Teacher

St. Andrew’s Cottage is a small and nurturing school in Uptown New
Orleans. The Cottage is seeking a Full Time Lead Teachers for our infant, one or two year old classrooms for the 2025-2026 school year.

Understands developmental milestones for infants and toddlers, including language acquisition, motor skills, and social-emotional growth.

Notices and responds sensitively to children’s needs and cues, supporting attachment and trust-building.

Communicates effectively and kindly with both young children and parents. Provides clear updates about routines, behaviors, and developmental progress.

A key element of the St. Andrew’s curriculum is teaching citizenship and respect for others. In addition, St. Andrew believes that communication and cooperation with our parents is essential to the success of any learning environment, and we expect our teachers to develop meaningful and productive relationships with our students’ Families.

The ideal candidate for this position will have at least two years of teaching, has a bachelor's degree or a CDA credential, familiarity with the independent school system, experience with (or appreciation of) a small school setting, balanced appreciation for traditions along with openness to new ideas, and a respect for a faith-based Episcopal education. The school seeks a diverse group of teaching candidates for this position and desires a faculty and staff with a broad range of geographic, racial, socioeconomic, religious, and life-experience backgrounds.

Teacher Duties:

  • Planning and executing a developmentally and culturally appropriate program for children
  • Assist in conducting developmental assessments, developing individual child portfolios, and maintaining daily records for each child and the center.
  • Instruct children using planned activities.
  • Provide appropriate care giving routines for individual children.
  • Plan and prepare appropriate activities for children individually and in small groups.
  • Assist in planning for and maintaining an appropriate, attractive, clean, safe,
  • developmental milestones for children.
  • Assist in preparing nutritious snacks for children.
  • Attend meetings, in-service, and workshops.
  • Participate in professional growth activities.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education and Certification:

Minimum Requirements (per Louisiana Child Care Licensing)

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 18 years old
  • CDA (Child Development Associate Credential)
  • Completion of Orientation and Pre-Service Training as required by the Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field
  • Louisiana Early Childhood Ancillary Certificate

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $35,000.00 - $42,000.00 per year
