Job Responsibilities
- Create daily lesson plans that are engaging, educational and exciting for students, encouraging them to want to come to school.
- Deliver lesson plans in a way that catches the attention of the students and keeps them occupied and excited about learning.
- Reach school and course-wide performance goals for every student in class.
- Develop lesson plans for English language arts and English language development
- Teach curricula aligned to ELD standards and Common Core ELA standards
- Support and coach teachers on how to integrate ELD into their core content areas
- Assess and analyze students’ performance and progress to ensure they are mastering developmental skills regularly, and responding to data to support all scholars to achieve academic success
- Build Relationships with our students, passionate staff, and committed families by:
- Maintain an open line of communication with families
- Work to maintain a positive culture on campus by building strong relationships with students and staff members
- Successfully strike a balance of warm and demanding in your communication with students
- Establish and maintain standards of student behavior for a productive learning environment during class sessions
- Grade papers and homework regularly to keep students and their families updated.
- Increase educational knowledge and stay up to date on new methods by joining professional organizations, attending continuing education courses and attending regular training sessions for teachers.
- Weave goals, competencies and objectives into lesson plans in ways that directly apply to the student’s life.
- Offer praise and encouragement to students when they do well and when they are struggling, and teach them that they have the power to do well in school no matter what.
- Do initial ELPAC assessment within 30 days of student enrollment to make Individualized Learning Plans for English Learners that move them effectively and efficiently to proficiency in English, maintain current ELPAC testing results, and monitor progress thereof.
Job Skills & Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Valid California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential or ability to attain one based on out of state certification
- CLAD, BCLAD, or English Language Learner Authorization
- Must possess a growth mindset and be able to use feedback to refine practice
- Experience working with second language learners and in second language acquisition
- English Learner Authorization (ELA1 or similar)
