SUMMARY

This Electrical Designer III position creates designs for electrical power and control systems utilizing skills, knowledge, acceptable concepts, practices, and procedures recognized within the electrical engineering field. This position relies on pre-established guidelines and design standards combined with the computer-aided design (CAD) to perform the required functions. This position provides support to Engineers and Project Managers. This is a nonexempt position.

This position receives assignments from a Design Department Coordinator. This position administratively reports to the Engineering Department Manager. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

· Associates or Technology Degree and/or 6 years of experience in the field of industrial electrical power, power distribution, and control system design

· Excellent oral and written communication skills

· Demonstrated proficient knowledge of, and ability to apply, the current NFPA 70 (National Fire Protection Association National Electrical Code) Chapters 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. 7, 9, and Annexes

· Demonstrated proficient knowledge of, and ability to apply, the current American National Standard C2, National Electrical Safety Code

· Demonstrated proficient knowledge of, and ability to apply, current Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) 1910 Standards

· Demonstrated proficient working knowledge of industrial type electrical distribution systems

· Demonstrated proficient working knowledge of industrial type electrical distribution equipment

· Able to accurately create complex single line diagrams, riser diagrams, power, lighting, grounding, and instrument plans

· Able to accurately create complex schematic, wiring, instrument loop diagrams, and P&ID’s

· Familiar with industrial and/or manufacturing facilities

Working ability to read, understand, and utilize complex building and mechanical drawings and details
· Demonstrated working knowledge of complex electrical design concepts, practices, and procedures
· Demonstrated ability to apply AutoCAD techniques and drafting skills specifically related to electrical power and control systems

· Demonstrated ability to apply complex applicable electrical design software such as conductor sizing, conductor de-rating, lighting, cable pulling, and cable tray loading

RESPONSIBILITIES

· Provide electrical power and control designs and details for complex installation of electrical and control systems

· Use industry accepted practices recognized within the electrical engineering field to produce complex electrical designs and details consisting of aboveground and underground grounding, lighting, equipment locations and clearances, voltage drop, conduit routing and fill, cable tray routing and fill, cable de-rating, cable pulling calculations, panelboard layout and loading, and wire selection

· Utilize Morrow Engineering established practices, standards and procedures to perform tasks

· Develop or revise designs, details, and drawings from experience, existing designs, sketches, verbal instructions, and written directions

· Review drawings and designs to ensure adherence to established CAD standards

· Develop or revise designs, details, and drawings in accordance with established CAD guidelines

· Review all designs for accuracy and completeness prior to submitting

· Prepare as-built drawings from field generated markups

· Assist in maintaining project-drawing files, drawing library, associated documentation, and records

· Perform work under the technical supervision of a Project Manager or Engineer

· Cooperate with the project team to maximize the success of the project

· Must be effective at communicating with written and oral communication skills

· Work on concurrent projects and proportions time appropriately

· Complete work assignments with a strong emphasis on technical accuracy and overall attention to detail

· Prepare and assemble documents for shipment (i.e., photocopying, binding, etc.)

· Operate peripheral equipment (i.e., printers, copiers, plotters, etc.)

· Participate in trips to project sites to gather/verify existing information

· Participate in an assortment of departmental cross-training instruction
