Electrical Engineer

Role Summary
The Electrical Engineer will be a key contributor in the development of an innovative medium-duty vehicle platform focused on advancing clean, efficient, and intelligent transportation. This position will focus on vehicle electrical and electronic systems, including power distribution, wiring harness design, control systems integration, and support for electric propulsion and charging systems. The ideal candidate combines strong hands-on engineering skills, solid experience in vehicle electrical systems design and validation, and the flexibility to work in a dynamic, startup-like environment.

This role is based at ENC’s headquarters in Riverside, California, and will require close cooperation with engineering teams in China and active support for supplier selection, qualification, and management both in the U.S. and internationally.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop electrical systems for new medium-duty vehicles, including low-voltage and high-voltage architectures.
  • Create and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and harness designs using CAD tools (SolidWorks Electrical, Altium, or equivalent).
  • Define system-level electrical requirements and component specifications.
  • Support integration of electrical systems, including propulsion, charging, power distribution, and control electronics.
  • Conduct hands-on testing, troubleshooting, and validation of vehicle electrical systems and components.
  • Work closely with mechanical and software teams to ensure cross-system compatibility and performance.
  • Collaborate with suppliers in China and the U.S. for electrical component design reviews, DFM feedback, and quality assurance.
  • Support prototype and production builds with on-site engineering presence as needed.
  • Participate in vehicle certification and compliance activities related to electrical safety and standards (e.g., FMVSS, UL, SAE).
  • Travel to China as required to coordinate engineering activities, resolve technical issues, and align supplier deliverables.

Qualifications
Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in automotive or commercial vehicle electrical engineering (EV experience preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of high-voltage and low-voltage power systems, grounding, and circuit protection.
  • Proficiency with electrical CAD tools such as SolidWorks Electrical, Altium Designer, or equivalent.
  • Hands-on experience with wiring harness design, diagnostics, and validation.
  • Strong knowledge of CAN bus systems, powertrain control, and communication architectures.
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes for vehicle electrical systems.
  • Excellent analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability and willingness to travel internationally, including frequent travel to China.

Preferred:
  • Experience with EV components, including batteries, inverters, DC/DC converters, and charging systems.
  • Familiarity with vehicle-level integration, testing, and validation processes.
  • Experience collaborating with international engineering and supplier teams, particularly in China.
  • Prior exposure to startup or fast-paced product development environments.

Skills and Attributes:
  • Curious, adaptable, and eager to learn new technologies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working independently while coordinating across global teams.
  • Proactive, organized, and driven to deliver results in a collaborative setting.
  • Excited to contribute to the creation of a new vehicle platform from concept through production.
