Electrician

Job Summary:

Installs, tests, and repairs electrical circuits, equipment, and appliances. Makes connections to new electrical installations, removes and replaces defective wiring, and tests circuits to comply with safety regulations. Cleans and makes minor repairs to motors and electrical. Trouble shoots electrical systems or equipment and makes necessary repairs. Receives and acts upon routine and preventative maintenance work orders. Performs related duties as required. Must have a willingness to work for the best interest of the hospital and with due consideration for patients. Must be able to work under emergency conditions and difficult situations. Performs other duties as required. Demonstrates knowledge and skills to appropriately communicate and interact with the patients, families, and visitors of all age groups while being sensitive to their cultural and religious beliefs.

Performance Expectations

• Demonstrates the ability to troubleshoot routine electrical issues and provide corrective measures.
• Demonstrates the ability to perform assigned electrical repairs to building systems, such as lighting and power issues, as well as make repairs to equipment.

Qualifications:

Education/Skills

High school graduate preferred.

Work Experience:

At least three years of experience in an industrial, commercial, or residential electrical field with a proven record of reliability required.

Mental Demands:

Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions; read manufacturer literature and schematics and be able to troubleshoot, cooperate with others, demonstrate initiative. Ability to react to, yet remain calm in, emergency situations.
