Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Elementary After School Program Teacher to join our team. This role involves engaging with children in a supportive and nurturing environment, facilitating educational and recreational activities that promote childhood development. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children, possess strong classroom management skills, and be committed to fostering a positive learning atmosphere. Experience in early childhood education, childcare, or related fields is highly valued.
Duties
- Plan and implement age-appropriate educational activities, arts and crafts, sports, and recreational games that align with program goals
- Supervise children during after-school hours, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times
- Manage classroom behavior using effective behavior management techniques to promote a respectful and inclusive environment
- Assist children with homework and tutoring as needed to support their academic progress
- Foster social-emotional development through positive reinforcement, Christian counseling principles (if applicable), and peer interaction
- Maintain a clean and organized activity space, ensuring all materials are safe and accessible
- Communicate regularly with parents or guardians regarding children's progress and any concerns
- Collaborate with other staff members to plan special events, field trips, or themed activities that enhance the program experience
Experience
- Prior experience working with children in settings such as daycare, camp, tutoring, babysitting, or theater is preferred
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and behavior management strategies is advantageous
- Certification in first aid or CPR is a plus but not mandatory; training can be provided if necessary
- Demonstrated ability to manage classroom dynamics effectively and foster a positive environment
- Experience with special education needs or early childhood education will be considered an asset
- Strong communication skills and the ability to connect with children of diverse backgrounds are essential for success in this role
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $14.00 per hour
