An End-of-Life Vehicle (ELV) car sales/purchase executive acts as the primary contact for acquiring and selling scrap or salvage cars. This role combines the core responsibilities of a traditional automotive executive with the specific environmental and regulatory requirements

Vehicle Acquisition (Purchasing)

  • Sourcing Vehicles: Identifying and seeking out end-of-life or damaged vehicles from individuals, insurance companies, auctions, and other vendors.
  • Evaluation and Appraisal: Inspecting and evaluating the condition of potential ELVs to determine their market value and potential for salvageable parts or raw materials.
  • Negotiation: Negotiating purchase prices and terms with sellers to ensure cost-effective acquisition for the company.
  • Market Analysis: Monitoring market trends for ELVs, scrap metal, and reusable parts to inform purchasing strategies and pricing decisions.

Sales and Administration

  • Sales of Salvage/Parts: Selling viable parts, components, or the processed material (e.g., flattened car bodies) to recyclers, repair shops, or other businesses.
  • Customer Service: Building and maintaining relationships with clients (both sellers and buyers), addressing inquiries, and ensuring a professional experience.
  • Paperwork and Compliance: Handling all necessary documentation, including sales and purchase contracts, title transfers, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and national ELV recycling and disposal regulations. This is crucial due to the legal requirements surrounding vehicle disposal.
  • Record Keeping: Maintaining meticulous records of all transactions, inventory, and disposal certificates in internal databases or CRM systems for auditing purposes.
