Engineer II - Avionics
Who we are:
We are an innovative startup with offices in Bengaluru and Delhi NCR, dedicated to revolutionizing India's defence capabilities through the development of next-generation technologies. Our mission focuses on advancing unmanned vehicle technology, pioneering robotic swarm systems, and pushing the boundaries of aerospace innovation to address the evolving needs of the Indian defence forces. Our current projects showcase our commitment to cutting-edge solutions, including a solar-powered High Altitude Pseudo Satellite (HAPS) - an unmanned stratospheric platform designed for extended endurance missions, and CCAV – an autonomous collaborative combat aerial vehicle which can operate in tandem with a crewed aircraft demonstrating Manned Un-Manned Teaming. We are seeking passionate innovators ready to shape the future of warfare technology and contribute significantly to India's defence preparedness. Join us in our quest to develop groundbreaking solutions that will define the next era of military capabilities.
Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct trade studies to select optimal electronic hardware components for ground and aerial platforms.
  • Design and implement hardware–software integration schemes for avionics components, including IMU, compass, GPS, ADU, transducers (voltage, current, temperature, fuel flow/level), payloads (EO/IR, EW, LIDAR, LRF, radar altimeter), actuators, flight controllers, data acquisition units, communication systems, and power system elements.
  • Develop software for sensor, transducer, and actuator integration, ensuring seamless operation with data acquisition units in SITL/HITL environments and ground test rigs.
  • Create PCB integration schemes for SMD sensors and power converters (step-down/step-up) and validate functionality at system and subsystem levels.
  • Prepare Interface Control Documents (ICDs) for in-house electronic assemblies and avionics LRUs.
  • Mentor test engineers in developing Acceptance Test Procedures (ATPs), Acceptance Test Reports (ATRs), and checklists for in-house assemblies and LRUs.
  • Guide the creation of Qualification Test Procedures (QTPs) and Qualification Test Reports (QTRs) for compliance with operational and environmental standards.
  • Ensure all electronic assemblies and LRUs meet regulatory, operational, and environmental qualification requirements.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve seamless integration of hardware and software for UAV and ground systems.
Must have skills:
  • Proficiency in using electronic test and measurement equipment such as digital multimeters, insulation resistance testers, debuggers, development boards, and oscilloscopes.
  • Hands-on experience with communication protocols including SPI, I²C, CAN, RS232, RS422, RS485, TCP/IP, and UDP.
  • Practical experience working with embedded system development boards such as Raspberry Pi, NVIDIA Jetson, STM32, and Qualcomm platforms.
  • Strong background in integrating sensors and power system devices with flight controllers or onboard computers (OBCs) using programming languages like Python, C, and C++.
  • Solid understanding of object-oriented software design and development using Python, C and C++.
Good to have skills:
  • Exposure to Data Acquisition units such as NI LabView and LabJack.
  • Exposure to UAV avionics components such as cameras, sensors, servos, OBCs, payloads, etc.
  • Exposure to open-source autopilots like PX4, Ardupilot etc.
Basic Requirement (education & relevant experience):
  • Bachelors/Masters (Computer Science/Electrical/Electronics/Aerospace Engineering)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working with core electronics/avionics systems.
