JOB SUMMARY:

It is the responsibility of this role to develop and execute process equipment designs and facility layouts in alignment with GasTech Engineering’s design standards and client-specific requirements. This position utilizes advanced solid modeling tools to generate detailed designs, manufacturing drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and all supporting design documentation required to fulfill project deliverables. The Designer ensures all designs are complete, accurate, and clearly documented while meeting established project schedules and cost objectives. This role plays a key part in maintaining GasTech Engineering’s commitment to quality, innovation, and customer satisfaction, supporting the company’s mission to be the most trusted and respected provider of engineered equipment and solutions in the industry.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This includes, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Develop detailed 3D models of pressure vessels, piping, and skids using Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, and Plant 3D.
  • Generate fabrication drawings, piping isometrics, general arrangements, and bills of materials (BOMs).
  • Ensure all designs comply with applicable codes and standards, including ASME, ANSI, AWS, and OSHA.
  • Serve as the designated drawing checker for the department, ensuring all design documents meet quality, accuracy, and standard compliance requirements.
  • Interpret/incorporate requirements in the Equipment Proposal/Client Specs.
  • The ability to learn and use advanced features of Autodesk Inventor such as iParts, iAssemblies, Frame Generator, and Tube & Pipe.
  • Coordinate design changes and maintain revision control through Product Data Management (PDM) or Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems (e.g., Autodesk Vault).
  • Collaborate with project management, engineering, and manufacturing teams to ensure design accuracy, manufacturability, and project alignment.
  • Identify and resolve design and fabrication issues proactively through effective problem-solving and communication.
  • Maintain Reliable and punctual attendance with positive and cooperative attitude.
Requirements:


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • An associate’s degree or equivalent experience in an engineering environment is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of energy industry design experience is required.
  • A minimum 3 years of experience in pressure vessel design, routing piping, skids, and structural assemblies in compliance with applicable ANSI, ASME, AWS, and OSHA standards is required.
  • The ability to work with minimal supervision and to deliver assignments on schedule is required.
  • 3 years of experience in industry tolerancing knowledge for product designs such as GD&T is strongly preferred but not required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Autodesk Inventor, Vault, and AutoCAD is required, at a level commensurate with experience.
  • Knowledge of detailing Piping ISOs, and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) is preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of Product Data Management and/or Product Lifecycle Management platform such as Vault is preferred but not required.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of documentation control and/or technical drawing revision change control and obsoletion practices is strongly preferred but not required.
  • Prior oil and gas drafting experience in a manufacturing environment is strongly preferred, but not required.
  • SolidWorks, CADWorx, or Plant 3D experience is preferred but not required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) is required.
