About the role
We are seeking an accomplished Sales Manager to architect and lead our High Voltage sales strategy across Australia. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical credibility and a proven track record selling into Transmission, Generation, Power Transformers, and Distribution sectors. You will own the end-to-end sales lifecycle, from market segmentation and strategic account planning to executive client engagement and contract negotiations. This is a hands on leadership role that combines strategic vision with strong execution to accelerate growth of our High Voltage portfolio.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and execute the regional High Voltage sales strategy to achieve revenue and margin targets in Melbourne and/or Sydney, with a focus on Transmission, Generation, Power Transformers, and Distribution customers.
- Build and manage a high-performing sales team (direct and indirect channels) to deliver consistent quarterly and annual results.
- Drive key account plans for major utility, transmission operator, EPC, and OEM accounts; establish C-level relationships and trusted advisor status.
- Define go-to-market approaches for High Voltage products and solutions (e.g., switchgear, transformers, cables, protection and control systems, HV cables, gas insulated switchgear, substations, and associated services).
- Collaborate with Product Management, Engineering, and Service to tailor solutions that address customer pain points, regulatory requirements, reliability targets, and lifecycle costs.
- Lead tender and bid management, ensuring competitive, compliant, and profitable proposals.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and regulatory changes; inform product strategy and pricing to maintain competitive advantage.
- Ensure accurate forecasting, pipeline hygiene, and CRM governance, report performance to executive leadership.
- Champion safety, quality, and compliance in all customer engagements and project deliveries.
- Represent the company at industry events, associations, and customer forums.
Required qualifications and experience
- 10+ years in B2B HV business development with a track record of leading large, complex deals in the Australian HV market.
- Deep knowledge of High Voltage products and customer bases, including Transmission, Generation, Power Transformers, and Distribution.
- Demonstrated success in selling to utilities, independent power producers, EPCs, OEMs, and asset owners; experience with large-scale substations, HV equipment, and related services.
- Strong strategic thinker with proven ability to translate market insights into winning strategies and action plans.
- Excellent stakeholder management and executive engagement skills; ability to command credibility with C-suite and engineering leadership.
- Experience in tendering, contract negotiation, and project-based sales; comfortable with long sales cycles and multi-stakeholder environments.
- Leadership and people management experience; ability to attract, motivate, and develop talent.
- Relevant qualifications in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related field; advanced degree or professional certification a plus.
- Willingness to travel regionally as required (approximately 30-40%).
