Location: Knoxville, TN (Hybrid/On-site)
Travel: 30–40% domestic and international

About the Role
As a Performance Engineer, you will perform advanced thermodynamic modeling, data analysis, and testing for power generation systems. You’ll work within multidisciplinary teams to solve complex plant performance challenges, guide junior engineers, and lead tasks that directly impact client operations and profitability.

What You’ll Do

• Develop and execute engineering analyses for combined-cycle, simple-cycle, and renewable power plants.
• Build and validate thermodynamic models using GateCycle, Ebsilon, Thermoflow, or PEPSE.
• Support test planning, data acquisition, and performance validation in accordance with ASME PTC standards.
• Participate in client consultations, proposals, and project reports.
• Mentor entry-level staff and contribute to internal training.
• Interface with clients on technical reviews and presentations.
• Engage in professional committees (ASME, CTI) and represent McHale as a technical authority.
• Support business development with technical insight and proposal input.

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering field (M.S. preferred).
• 1 to 5 years of progressive experience in power generation or performance testing.
• Demonstrated proficiency with thermodynamic modeling tools.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Flexible approach to changing project priorities and schedules.

Preferred Extras

• Professional Engineer (PE) license or eligibility.
• Experience with performance testing, data reconciliation, or uncertainty analysis.
• Familiarity with ASME and CTI standards.
• Publication or committee involvement demonstrating professional engagement.
• Knowledge of thermodynamic models using GateCycle, Ebsilon, Thermoflow, or PEPSE.
