The reporting location for this position is the Bay Area District Office, 845 Casa Grande Road, Petaluma, CA 94954. This position will work under the general direction of the Senior Environmental Scientist (Supervisory).
This position works throughout the state parks of the Bay Area District and is responsible for implementing, maintaining, and monitoring natural resource restoration and management activities and projects designed to restore and adaptively manage ecosystem functions and mitigate impacts of cannabis cultivation. The parks in the Bay Area District encompass more than 30,000 acres of highly varied habitat across multiple counties in the San Francisco Bay Area. This position provides exciting and unique opportunities for natural resource management in a large and complex district. Duties include: identification, scoping and management of projects that will help restore watersheds impacted by cannabis cultivation through restoration and protection of watershed function and ecological processes, native plant community restoration and maintenance, invasive species control, and remediation of grow sites. The ideal candidate can both work independently and work well as part of a team. Both office working conditions and field work, some overnight travel is required. May be required to perform arduous field work in rugged, steep terrain.

The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.

Desirable Qualifications
Current basic fire fighter certification (FF Type II) or willingness to be certified in Wildland Fire (at minimum receiving a qualification of Firefighter II and Resource Advisor) desired.
