Key responsibilities
- Cost Estimation and Budgeting: Prepare detailed cost estimates, bills of quantities (BOQs), and rate analyses for electrical and MEP (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing) projects by analyzing drawings, specifications, and tender documents.
- Tendering and Bidding: Assist in preparing and submitting project bids, including cost breakdowns and technical clarifications. This involves coordinating with procurement and engineering teams to finalize material rates.
- Contract Administration: Support the drafting, reviewing, and management of contracts, variations, and change orders.
- Cost Control and Monitoring: Track and monitor project costs, compare them to the budget, and highlight any deviations to help control expenses.
- Quantity Measurement and Valuation: Conduct on-site quantity measurements and verify subcontractor claims. Prepare progress reports and payment certificates.
- Vendor and Supplier Management: Maintain relationships with vendors and subcontractors to ensure accurate material and labor cost estimates.
- Coordination: Liaise with project managers, site engineers, procurement, and finance teams to ensure smooth project execution.
Required qualifications and skill
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Experience: Previous experience in electrical estimation, electrical engineering, or a similar role in the construction industry is necessary.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills are crucial for interpreting blueprints and calculating costs.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in estimation software and tools, such as PlanSwift, and strong skills in Microsoft Excel are required.
- Attention to Detail: A high level of detail is necessary to ensure the accuracy of cost estimates.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills are needed for coordinating with various teams and stakeholders.
- Organizational Skills: Sound organizational and time management skills are essential to meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of Regulations: Knowledge of electrical codes and standards is important for compliance.
