EV Engineer – Job Description

Position Title: EV Engineer
Job Summary

The EV Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and validating electric vehicle (EV) systems, including battery packs, power electronics, motors, wiring harnesses, and safety components. The role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure performance, safety, and compliance with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. EV System Design & Development

ü Design and develop EV components such as battery systems, BMS, motor controllers, DC/DC converters, chargers, wiring harnesses, and thermal management systems.

ü Prepare engineering drawings, BOMs, schematics, and documentation.

ü Conduct system integration for EV powertrain components.

2. Testing & Validation

ü Perform functional tests on battery packs, motors, inverters, and charging systems.

ü Troubleshoot issues related to electrical, mechanical, and software integration.

ü Perform performance, safety, and durability testing as per standards (ISO, IEC, UN38.3, AIS, etc.).

3. Analysis & Simulation

ü Use simulation tools to analyze battery performance, thermal characteristics, and EV efficiency.

ü Perform root-cause analysis for component failures or system issues.

4. Safety & Compliance

ü Ensure compliance with EV safety standards and regulatory requirements.

ü Implement HV safety procedures and risk assessments (Arc flash, HV isolation, insulation testing).

5. Project Support

ü Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, and software teams during development.

ü Support prototype builds and assist technicians in assembly/testing.

ü Prepare and present reports, test data, and project updates.

Required Skills & Qualifications

ü Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, or Automotive Engineering.

ü Strong knowledge of EV systems: battery packs, motor control, inverters, BMS, HV components.

ü Experience with CAD tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Catia) and electrical simulation tools.

ü Hands-on experience with testing tools: multimeter, oscilloscope, CAN analyser, thermal sensors, etc.

ü Understanding of CAN, LIN, UART communication protocols.

ü Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

ü Knowledge of safety standards and HV safety procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

ü Experience in lithium-ion battery design or testing.

ü Experience with EV charging protocols (CCS, CHAdeMO, Type-2).

ü Experience in embedded systems, firmware, or automotive diagnostics.

ü Previous experience in EV R&D or manufacturing.
