Assist in the hiring, training, supervising, scheduling, motivating, positively disciplining and planning of the activities of engineering department team members.

Assist in the employee performance reviews and process.

Assist in ensuring that effective and concise preventive maintenance schedules are followed.

Assist in planning and implementing procedures, systems and controls to ensure an efficient, timely and pro-active engineering department.

Directly supervise personnel in carrying out work schedules as well as spot-checking to verify quality and employee performance.

Maintain logs on movement of stock items and tools.

Maintain par stocks and the distribution of items.

Ensure timely and accurate sub meter, chemical treatment and engine room logs.

Handle the purchasing of equipment replacement parts and repairs. This includes contacting vendors for best prices, writing purchase orders, receiving goods and completing projects.

Ensure that work order/request system is properly executed and that items from the log book are followed up on when necessary.

Assist in developing and updating comprehensive departmental policies, procedures and manuals.

Ensure that all meter readings on Fuel, light and power are taken on a daily basis and reviewed for consumption

Assist in compiling a monthly consumption report on Fuel, light and power to include electricity, gas, steam and water.

Set-up fire life safety and protection systems, valve locations and other emergency procedures that involves the department.

Ensure effective inter-departmental communication and good relations between the engineering team members and members of fellow departments within the hotel.

The ability to assist in compiling a report on consumable materials.

Document any incident or malfunction as well as obtaining third party reports.

Prepare and follow through on any projects and tasks as outlined by senior management.

Ensure all areas of the hotel are patrolled and inspected daily as well as all lighting is in good order.

Ensure all engineering team members are in complete uniform and well groomed.

Ensure timely completion of all assigned responsibilities.

Assist in developing and maintaining an energy conservation program allowing the hotel to meet its annual budget targets.

Prepare purchase requisitions and work orders as well as liaise efficiently with the Director of Engineering on such matters.

Assume the duties of the Chief Engineer/ Director of Engineering in his/her absence.

Conduct oneself in a professional manner at all times to reflect the high standards of Four Seasons Hotels and encourage staff to do the same.

Maintain a good working relationship with other employees, providing instruction and encouragement as needed.

Ensure a clean, neat and organized work area.

Attend and participate in all required meetings.

Respond properly in any hotel emergency or safety situation.

The ability to perform other tasks or projects as assigned by Director of Engineering, Chief Engineer or General Manager.
