About the role:
We are looking for a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Payroll Tax Specialist with strong expertise in U.S. payroll tax regulations, including FICA, Medicare, FUTA, and state-specific requirements. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with 1099 and W-2 reporting, as well as proficiency in leading payroll software platforms. Experience within a BPO or outsourcing environment is highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure full compliance with U.S. federal payroll tax regulations, including FICA, Medicare, and FUTA.
- Manage, prepare, and file state-level payroll taxes across multiple jurisdictions.
- Accurately prepare and submit 1099 and W-2 forms for clients.
- Process and reconcile payroll taxes using systems such as ADP, Gusto, or Paychex.
- Collaborate with client teams to troubleshoot and resolve payroll tax discrepancies.
- Stay current with changes in federal and state payroll tax laws.
- Assist in responding to IRS and state tax notices, inquiries, or audits.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in U.S. payroll tax compliance, preferably within a BPO or outsourcing environment.
- Strong understanding of IRS regulations, multi-state payroll compliance, and payroll tax reporting requirements.
- Practical experience with payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Gusto, Paychex).
- In-depth knowledge of 1099/W-2 reporting and worker classification standards.
- Exceptional attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication skills for liaising with clients.
- Professional certifications such as CPA, EA, or payroll tax-specific credentials are a plus.
