Job Description – Firefighting Engineer

Department: Engineering / Fire Protection
Reports To: Senior Fire Engineer / Project Manager
1. Role Purpose
The Firefighting Engineer is responsible for designing, reviewing, coordinating, and supervising the installation, testing, and commissioning of firefighting systems in compliance with UAE Fire & Life Safety Code, NFPA standards, and project specifications. The engineer ensures that all fire protection systems are technically sound, compliant, and executed according to quality and safety standards.
2. Key ResponsibilitiesDesign & Engineering
- Prepare and review firefighting system designs including fire pumps, sprinkler systems, standpipes, hydrants, FM200, CO₂, foam systems, and water mist systems.
- Develop hydraulic calculations, layout drawings, and system schematics using relevant software.
- Ensure designs comply with UAE Fire & Life Safety Code, NFPA, and project specifications.
- Prepare technical drawings, BOQs, material submittals, and design documentation.
Site Coordination & Execution
- Supervise installation activities to ensure proper execution of firefighting systems.
- Conduct site inspections to verify system quality, installation standards, and compliance with approved drawings.
- Coordinate with MEP teams, contractors, consultants, and Civil Defense authorities.
- Review and approve materials, equipment, and system components prior to installation.
Testing, Commissioning & Approvals
- Prepare and participate in testing, commissioning, and integrated system checks.
- Coordinate with UAE Civil Defense for site inspections, system approvals, and final certifications.
- Ensure systems are fully operational and meet required performance criteria.
Documentation & Compliance
- Prepare method statements, risk assessments, and QA/QC documents related to firefighting works.
- Maintain project documentation including inspection reports, test certificates, and compliance records.
- Ensure work is carried out in accordance with HSE standards and organizational policies.
Technical Support
- Assist in resolving technical issues and design challenges on-site.
- Provide technical input during project meetings and coordination sessions.
- Support procurement teams with technical evaluation of firefighting equipment.
3. Experience & QualificationExperience
- 3–4 years of experience as a Firefighting Engineer or similar role within the UAE.
- Hands-on experience with installation, testing, and commissioning of firefighting systems.
- Strong knowledge of UAE Civil Defense approval processes.
- Experience working with consultants, contractors, and MEP project teams.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (preferred) or related engineering field.
- Knowledge of NFPA, UAE Fire & Life Safety Code, and international fire protection standards.
- Certifications in fire safety or firefighting systems (e.g., NFPA courses, Civil Defense-approved training) are an advantage.
4. Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of firefighting system design & installation
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, hydraulic calculation software (e.g., Elite Fire), and MS Office
- Strong coordination and communication skills
- Problem-solving and technical troubleshooting
- Attention to detail and quality-focused mindset
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
5. Additional Requirements
- UAE driving license (preferred)
- Ability to travel to project sites across the UAE
- Familiarity with HSE guidelines and site safety practices
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: AED4,000.00 - AED5,000.00 per month
