Key Responsibilities:

Shipment Coordination:

• Organize and manage the transportation of goods via air, sea, road, and rail.
• Determine the best routes and methods for transportation based on customer requirements, cost efficiency, and delivery timelines.
• Monitor the movement of goods throughout the transportation process to ensure timely delivery.

Documentation and Compliance:

• Prepare and process the necessary documentation, including bills of lading, export declarations, and customs paperwork.
• Ensure compliance with all local, national, and international shipping regulations and laws.
• Coordinate with customs brokers to ensure smooth customs clearance and delivery of goods.

Vendor and Client Management:

• Liaise with shipping carriers, suppliers, and other logistics partners to negotiate rates and terms.
• Communicate with clients to provide shipment updates, resolve issues, and address concerns.
• Build and maintain relationships with freight carriers, warehouses, and transportation providers.

Problem-Solving:

• Address and resolve issues related to delayed shipments, damaged goods, or customs clearance problems.
• Investigate any discrepancies in shipments, identify the root causes, and implement corrective actions.

Cost Management and Budgeting:

• Monitor and track shipping costs, ensuring they stay within budget and find opportunities for cost savings.
• Provide cost estimates and shipping quotes to clients and manage invoicing.
• Identify opportunities to optimize shipping routes and reduce overall transportation costs.

Inventory and Logistics Support:

• Work closely with warehouse teams to ensure goods are stored and prepared for shipping efficiently.
• Coordinate with inventory teams to ensure product availability and accuracy for timely shipments.

Customer Service:

• Provide high-level customer service, ensuring that client expectations regarding shipment timing, handling, and delivery are met.
• Address customer complaints and requests in a professional manner.

Reporting:

• Maintain accurate records of shipments, delays, costs, and any incidents.
• Prepare and deliver regular reports on shipment status, freight costs, and performance metrics to management.

Tracking and Monitoring:

• Use tracking systems to monitor the progress of shipments and ensure goods arrive on schedule.
• Proactively identify any delays or potential issues and implement mitigation plans.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; a bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, business, or a related field is preferred.
• Experience: 2-5 years of experience in freight forwarding or logistics management is preferred.

Knowledge:

• Strong understanding of logistics, international shipping regulations, and customs processes.
• Knowledge of air, sea, rail, and road freight operations.
• Familiarity with freight forwarding software and tracking systems.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

• Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, vendors, and teams.
• Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical skills to resolve shipping-related issues and improve processes.

Work Environment:

• Freight forwarders may work in an office setting or be stationed at a logistics or shipping hub.
• Occasional travel may be required to visit warehouses, meet with vendors, or inspect shipments.
• The work may involve working outside of regular hours, especially when dealing with international shipments or time-sensitive deliveries.
