Full Stack Ruby on Rails Engineer

SourceTeK is hiring on behalf of one of our clients — a fast-growing startup based in Waltham, MA.
We are seeking a Full Stack Ruby on Rails Engineer who is experienced in building scalable applications and comfortable using AI tools to enhance development workflows and product features.

You will be the second full-time engineer joining a small but ambitious team. This role involves working across the stack, building integrations, and contributing directly to the product’s technical direction and architecture.

Responsibilities

• Develop integrations with third-party systems and internal APIs
• Build and maintain full stack web applications using Ruby on Rails and PostgreSQL
• Work across backend services, APIs, and front-end interfaces
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code
• Ensure application performance, scalability, and security
• Collaborate with product and design teams to deliver features end-to-end
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and engineering best practices
• Contribute to workflow automation and AI-driven product capabilities

Requirements

• 1–2+ years experience in a startup environment
• Strong proficiency with Ruby on Rails (5+ years professional experience preferred)
• Solid understanding of PostgreSQL and relational database design
• Knowledge of multi-tenant architecture and data privacy/security best practices
• Experience with background job processing and automated testing
• Front-end experience with HTML, CSS (Tailwind), JavaScript, and Hotwire (Stimulus/Turbo)
• Demonstrated experience using AI tools such as Cursor, Codex, or Claude Code
• Experience building fault-tolerant, resilient integrations with third-party APIs
