OVERVIEW AND ROLE SCOPE OF TEAM AND/OR TASKS
As an integral part of Colorado Mesa University's in-house marketing communications team, the Full-Stack Web Designer oversees the Colorado Mesa University website and other digital communications by performing the following duties personally or through collaboration with other department supervisors or employees.

CAPACITY REQUIREMENTS
  • Develops, designs, implements and maintains the CMU website by employing cutting-edge technology and fostering consistency in the appearance and message delivered.
  • Enhances the website by incorporating new features (from concept and design through front-end and CMS development and deployment), creates and maintains site functionality through strategic architecture development, and fosters consistency in the appearance and message delivered.
  • Creates graphic designs that support interactive content.
  • Provides web design and execution with an emphasis on functionality and hierarchy. Maintains and participates in the on-going development of a template-based site with a content management system that includes information architecture, project management, usability, brand management and site maintenance.
  • Incorporates data-driven decisions into information architecture, user experience, user interaction and design.
  • Determines user needs and goals with a focus on UX experience, design and overall usability, and works to create and execute strategies to implement new functionality. Evaluates website and digital communication effectiveness by conducting surveys of users, A/B testing of alternative digital approaches, focus groups and other marketing communication tools.
  • Integrates content personalization into design.
  • Evaluates code to ensure compliance web accessibility guidelines and SEO best practices.
  • Modifies the CMU website to focus on the user experience and overall usability.
  • Conducts user testing as needed and implements best practices for UX design.
  • Monitors and ensures website usability, compatibility, performance and visual consistency on all commonly used web browsers, operating systems, and mobile devices.
  • Provides training to user community in the use of web content management system and supporting tools and best practices for web content to conform to web accessibility and search engine optimization. Creates training materials and documentation as needed.
  • Assists with the design and development of the University's internal portal, MAVzone.
  • Provides support for additional CMU properties, including but not limited to supportingcmu.org and CMUMavericks.com.
  • Supports other forms of digital communications such as HTML emails and digital signage.
  • Leads and/or participates in various councils/meetings as assigned.

    ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE FOR RIGHT FIT
  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university plus five years proven experience in website design and development.
  • Solid design experience with cross-browser platform compatibility.
  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS and Javascript/jquery. Content Management System experience and experience designing and deploying content for mobile devices.
  • Three years working knowledge of and proficiency with recognized industry software applications such as Dreamweaver, or other coding software, Photoshop and Illustrator with an understanding of design and delivery to the web.
  • Experience working in higher education or another large, complex organization.
