GreenWood inspires a healthy balance in life through healthy eating habits, exercise, personal discovery, service learning, and environmental stewardship.
ABOUT THE SCHOOL
GreenWood is the first school in Utah to focus on holistic education. GreenWood is a free public charter school serving grades K-8. GreenWood was chartered to educate students, engage parents and connect with our community to support a culture of healthy habits for our students to grow academically. From our mindfulness practices, to our school traditions, to our HEALTH Values, to our procedures and expectations, we ask that parents and families be knowledgeable and involved in the overall aim and mission of our school.
WHAT IS EL EDUCATION?
EL Education (formerly Expeditionary Learning) is a national school transformation organization operating in 165 schools in 30 states and reaching over 45,000 students. EL partners with schools to improve student achievement through an inquiry and project-based approach. POSITION OVERVIEW
Everything that we do at GreenWood Charter School is intended to meet the needs of students in their early elementary years. You must have the ability to develop meaningful connections with students, have strong classroom management skills, and have the skills to create classroom culture in which individuals are valued for what they bring to the group.
You Must:
- Design and develop instructional material on technology subject.
- Initiate tools and processes in teaching methodologies.
- Answer and respond to students’ inquiries.
- Monitor individual performance of each student.
- Teach and inculcate different technology skills in students.
- Evaluate, assess and grade students’ performances.
- Communicate students’ performance to their parents.
- Ensure stimulating classroom learning experiences to students.
- Bring out the best in each student through innovative teaching methods.
- Maintain and manage documentation of students’ progress, programs and interventions.
- A passion for deeper learning that aligns with the core principles of EL Education
As part of a team you will:
- Develop, document, and evaluate curriculum aligned with GreenWood Charter School learning expeditions and curriculum maps
- Maintain effective instructional practices-utilized to make learning come alive, ensure that all students participate, and use data to modify instruction to ensure differentiated learning
- Commit to character education fostered through challenging academic work, service, and whole child learning
Salary Wage Full-time salary position of 40 hours a week.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supports appropriate Computer Science Technology and Middle School Career and College, and Digital Literacy for students in grades K-8.
- Supports Adventure Mondays, and outdoor structured play for K-5 students.
- Teaches knowledge and understanding of Computer Technology careers.
- Conducts ongoing assessment of student growth and progress in the technology activities, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student’s needs, including students with special needs; conducts individual and small group instruction as needed.
- Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the Computer Science Technology field by attending seminars, participating in professional organizations, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research.
- Maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance.
- Encourages parental involvement in students’ education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
- Ensures that student conduct conform to the school’s standards and school district policies, and establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
- Meets with other professional staff members, and participates in staff meetings and committees.
- Collaborate with colleagues to create highly engaging, authentic learning experiences
- Employ a variety of teaching methodologies that guide students to engage in critical thinking: use of protocols, simulations, workshops, Socratic seminars, cooperative learning, experiments, hands-on projects, and other inquiry-based activities
- Participate in ongoing professional development including observations and feedback from an instructional coach
- Implement school-wide positive behavioral systems to effectively manage the classroom
- Continually communicate with students families regarding performance and progress
QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge of current Computer Science Technology education instructional methods, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.
- Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the field of Computer Science Technology.
- Knowledge of data information systems data analysis and the formulation of action plans.
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws and regulations regarding education and students, as well as relating to Computer Science Technology.
- Ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed.
- Ability to organize and coordinate work.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
- Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.
- Strong interpersonal skills, commitment to teamwork, and readiness to reflect and grow
- Values a collaborative approach to working with a diverse population of children and adults
- Sense of humor and a high level of energy, enthusiasm, flexibility, and spontaneity
- Exemplary organizational skills including ability to prioritize, complete tasks (such as grading) efficiently, keep grade-book up to date, and document lessons, materials, and assessment
- Teacher license preferred
