About the Role

We are looking for an experienced GIS Developer with strong expertise in geospatial technologies, mapping frameworks, backend integration, and modern GIS development tools. The ideal candidate must be able to develop, optimize, and deploy GIS-based applications and solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and deploy GIS applications using modern mapping libraries & geospatial technologies.
• Design and manage geospatial databases, spatial data models, and ETL workflows.
• Build and integrate web-based GIS solutions with backend APIs and cloud environments.
• Work with large-volume geospatial datasets: vector, raster, LIDAR, DEM, satellite imagery, etc.
• Develop custom geoprocessing tools, automation scripts, and spatial analysis modules.
• Optimize GIS data performance, map rendering speed, and data accuracy.
• Integrate GIS functions with enterprise systems, dashboards, and reporting tools.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (developers, analysts, product teams).
• Ensure quality, scalability, and security in GIS solutions.

Required Technical Skills (Comprehensive & Up-to-Date)GIS Technologies

• ArcGIS Suite (ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap, ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Online)
• QGIS, GDAL/OGR, PostGIS
• FME (Feature Manipulation Engine)
• Geoserver, MapServer
• ERDAS Imagine, ENVI (optional but valuable)

GIS Programming Skills

• Python for geospatial automation (arcpy, geopandas, shapely, rasterio, fiona)
• JavaScript for mapping applications (Leaflet.js, Mapbox GL JS, OpenLayers, ESRI JS API)
• Experience with TypeScript (preferred)

Database & Backend

• PostgreSQL/PostGIS (strong)
• SQL Server Spatial
• MySQL with spatial extensions
• RESTful API development & integration
• Node.js, Django/Flask (good to have)

Cloud & DevOps (In-demand Skills)

• AWS (S3, Lambda, EC2, CloudFront)
• Azure Maps / Google Maps Platform
• ArcGIS Enterprise deployment
• Docker, Kubernetes (added advantage)
• CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions)

Geospatial Data Handling

• Raster & Vector analysis
• Satellite imagery processing
• LIDAR point cloud processing
• GeoJSON, KML, WMS, WFS, WMTS services

Front-End Development (Good to Have)

• React / Angular for GIS dashboards
• HTML, CSS, Bootstrap/Tailwind
• UI/UX understanding for GIS portals/dashboards

Additional Skills

• Strong analytical & spatial problem-solving abilities
• Knowledge of map projections, coordinate systems, geostatistics
• Experience with real-time tracking & live-mapping applications
• Version control: Git / GitHub / GitLab
• Agile/Scrum experience

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s / Master’s in GIS, Geomatics, Computer Science, IT, Geography, or related fields.
• Professional certifications (ArcGIS Desktop, AWS, etc.) are a plus.
