The Transportation Department of the North Central Texas Council of Governments is seeking a Graphic Designer in the department’s Branding, Campaigns, and Media program area. This program area leads the development of creative communication strategies and products that strengthen public understanding of and engagement in the region’s air quality and transportation initiatives, manages the department’s brand identity, supports media and public outreach efforts, and produces campaigns that inform and inspire positive behavior change. The individual in this position will support the design, production, and delivery of creative communication materials that promote air quality and transportation initiatives. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Working with supervisor and staff to implement visual communication projects to ensure consistency with established branding standards, and develop outreach materials to engage the public
  • Working with supervisor to design and produce communication materials to support department air quality and transportation outreach goals, including logos, flyers, presentations, advertisements, and digital graphics
  • Assisting with department branding efforts by applying established visual identity standards across communication products and coordinating with staff to ensure consistency
  • Working with supervisor and department program areas to understand outreach objectives and assist with identifying effective formats, design approaches, and brand applications for communicating with the public
  • Assisting supervisor with the development and execution of public education campaigns by creating visual assets and supporting campaign timelines and deliverables
  • Drafting for supervisor review, layouts and designs for department publications
  • Assisting with graphic design projects from concept through completion, including the development of initial layouts, refinement of designs based on feedback, and the preparation of final files to meet established branding and accessibility standards

Required Skills

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Publisher, and Outlook
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite/Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written with an ability to listen to and follow instructions, collaborate with team members, and present ideas
  • Detail-oriented, highly organized, creative, with an ability to manage multiple assignments/tasks and work well in a deadline-driven environment without diminishing quality of work
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

Required Education and Experience

  • Work requires broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field normally acquired through four years of college resulting in a Bachelor’s degree
  • One year or less of work-related experience

Starting Salary Range

Minimum of $49,022.46 - $58,826.95 annually

The planning area for transportation includes the 12 counties of Collin, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Hood, Hunt, Johnson, Kaufman, Parker, Rockwall, Tarrant, and Wise.
