Head Nurse

Position Title: Head Nurse
Experience Required: 5+ years
Department: Nursing / Clinical Services
Reports To: Nursing Superintendent / Medical Director

Key Responsibilities1. Leadership & Staff Management

• Supervise and guide nursing staff, ensuring adherence to policies and protocols.
• Prepare duty rosters, assign tasks, and monitor performance.
• Provide mentorship, coaching, and ongoing training to nursing personnel.
• Conduct performance evaluations and coordinate professional development activities.

2. Patient Care Coordination

• Ensure delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care.
• Monitor patient conditions and escalate concerns to physicians as needed.
• Oversee admission, transfer, and discharge processes.
• Ensure documentation accuracy in patient records and nursing reports.

3. Clinical & Operational Management

• Maintain adequate stock of medicines, equipment, and supplies.
• Ensure proper functioning and maintenance of medical devices.
• Enforce infection control protocols, safety guidelines, and hygiene standards.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and audits.

4. Communication & Collaboration

• Coordinate with doctors, technicians, and administrative teams for smooth workflow.
• Communicate updates, protocols, and changes to nursing staff.
• Attend departmental meetings and represent the nursing unit when required.

5. Compliance & Standards

• Ensure adherence to hospital policies, legal requirements, and nursing standards.
• Monitor incident reporting, address patient complaints, and take corrective actions.
• Maintain confidentiality and ethical conduct in all patient-related matters.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent
• Valid Nursing License/Registration
• Minimum 5 years of clinical nursing experience, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory role preferred.
