We are currently seeking a high calibre professional with demonstrated track record to join our team as Head of Real Assets ASP Platforms.

Primarily focused on portfolio management of the Asia Pacific Real Assets Investment platforms, including Asia Living. The Asia Living platform fund investment focus will be on the broad living sector across the life cycles of individuals which includes sectors ranging from student housing to elderly population homes.

The role holder will provide support to the Head of Real Assets in Asia Pacific and is expected to have a high public "share of voice" and significant interactions with external and internal investors. Demonstrated investment track record of achieving consistent positive performance objectives to investors is critical. Experience in managing regional and/or global real assets investment businesses/teams in complex multi-national organizations is a major benefit.

The individual will be the Portfolio Manager of the new fund focused on Asia Living platforms in Asian countries, particularly in developed Asia. This will be executed within a risk-controlled framework to meet investment objectives of clients and financial objectives of HSBC AM. The ability to lead, coach, motivate and manage cross-functional and cross-cultural teams while fostering collaborative values will be crucial. An important aspect of the role is to develop and integrate sustainability policies for the new fund that are consistent and acceptable with the sustainability goals of clients, client mandates, and HSBC AM.

They will be responsible for liaising with the global Risk, FCC, Business Risk & Resilience, Risk, Tax, Legal and the broader business to ensure the fund operates within relevant regulations and HSBC policies.

Impact on the Business
  • Accountable for the strategic direction and performance of the Real Assets Platforms APAC business and achievement of financial targets.
  • Accountable as the Portfolio Manager of the new fund and the achievement of financial targets.
  • Develop and articulate Real Assets strategies in line with client demand, market trends, economic fundamentals, property values.
  • Oversee the implementation of an effective investment standard and processes, identifying challenges and weakness and address these with solutions and enhancements.
  • Work with Investment Specialists, AM sales and distributions teams, and external advisors to raise capital for Real Assets, APAC
  • Work with the capabilities that make/support direct investments, to ensure effective management of direct investments, to increase value and enhance performance for investors.

  • Provides management, leadership, guidance and support to members of the real estate and infrastructure pillar.

  • Ensures the operation and smooth running of the portfolio, including influencing of supporting functions that do not report into the role holder. This includes legal, compliance, product development etc. Therefore, communication, organizational and influencing skills are critical.
  • Issue management by anticipating issues, mitigating associated risks and resolving challenges.
  • Ensure the portfolio team within Real Estate and infrastrucure, APAC are appropriately resourced and organized
Operational Effectiveness & Control
  • Effective day to day management of the portfolio.
  • Ensure the portfolio meets its regulatory responsibilities; ensure appropriate governance is implemented along with robust documentation and supporting management controls.
  • Business support for change activity impacting the Real Assets, Real Estate, APAC
  • Adherence to all relevant procedures, keeping appropriate records and timely implementation of internal and external audit points.
  • Active member of external business forums and committees
  • Ensure the portfolio has appropriate governance and articulates with relevant AM entities and functions, with clarity on responsibility while ensuring to leverage existing processes and procedures
Knowledge
  • 20+ years of Real Estate and/or infrastructure experience in the Asia Pacific region with large global financial institutions with focus on building platform and transactions with OpCo/PropCo structures
  • Established Real Assets investment track record in multiple sectors and strategies
  • Proven record of building Real Assets business as a fiduciary
  • Proven and verifiable list of institutional investors in the Real Assets industry
  • Exceptional leadership skills; building, managing, and retaining talent
  • Extensive experience in working within large, complex financial institutions
  • Strong leader who drives for results
  • Demonstrates core values for diversity and inclusion
  • Advanced degree from recognised University
  • Licenced in Singapore to conduct fund management and portfolio management business
