Blue Star Limited is India’s leading air conditioning and commercial refrigeration company with over eight decades of experience in providing expert cooling solutions. It fulfils the cooling requirements of a large number of corporate, commercial as well as residential customers, as well as offers products such as water purifiers, air purifiers and air coolers. It also provides expertise in allied contracting activities such as electrical, plumbing and fire-fighting services, in order to provide turnkey solutions, apart from execution of specialised industrial projects.

About the Role

1. Policy Development & ESG Governance

• Lead the formulation and regular review of key sustainability policies, including:

o Sustainability Policy
o Green Procurement Policy
o Waste Management Policy

• Ensure policies are forward-looking and aligned with evolving regulations, market trends, and the company’s business objectives.

2. ESG Goal Setting & Performance Oversight

• Define and drive measurable goals for Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions in line with global climate commitments.
• Oversee cross-functional execution of initiatives in:

o Carbon and energy management
o Water and material efficiency
o Biodiversity preservation
o Product stewardship and life cycle assessments
o Green buildings and GreenCo certification

3.Strategic Leadership & Culture Building

• Champion sustainability as a core organizational value and business imperative.
• Embed sustainability principles across divisions and functions through thought leadership, communication, and engagement.
• Represent Blue Star at external forums—delivering talks, writing thought pieces, and participating in panel discussions to shape industry dialogue and elevate the brand.

4. Renewable Energy & Carbon Offset Strategy

• Accelerate the transition to non-fossil fuel energy sources by exploring:

o Offsite Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs)
o Green power certifications from utilities
o Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs)

• Develop afforestation and carbon sequestration initiatives to support long-term carbon offset goals.

5. Sustainability Program Implementation

• Institutionalize company-wide sustainability programs across plants, offices, and the supply chain.
• Regularly assess program effectiveness, identify opportunities for improvement, and ensure alignment with strategic goals.

6. ESG Reporting & Regulatory Compliance

• Oversee all ESG disclosures, with a focus on timely, transparent, and compliant reporting—especially under the SEBI-mandated BRSR (Business Responsibility and Sustainability Reporting).
• Ensure Blue Star is audit-ready for ESG ratings, investor reviews, and regulatory checks.

7. Capacity Building & Internal Engagement

• Mentor and develop a strong internal sustainability team.
• Facilitate training programs and build ESG capabilities across departments.
• Drive organization-wide engagement through events and platforms such as:

o Encon Week, World Environment Day
o Competitions (quizzes, drawing, essay writing) across plants and offices
o Regular intranet updates and features in internal communication channels

8. Value Chain Integration & Stakeholder Alignment

• Extend sustainability efforts beyond the organization by engaging suppliers, partners, and contractors.
• Promote sustainable procurement, ethical sourcing, and responsible practices across the value chain.
• Serve as a key point of contact for ESG-related discussions with investors, regulators, and customers.
