Health and Safety Engineer

Plan, coordinates and implements a comprehensive occupational health and safety program / measures and control. Provides consultation and expertise and exercises functional authority over essential matters pertaining to health and safety. The position typically ensures that the Health & Safety Engineer must comply with all local and governmental regulations including the latest health and safety codes.
 

Key Responsibilities:
 

1. Maintain a safe workplace and to protect the environment by adhering to company policy, ensuring in compliance to local and government regulations.
2. Execute and develop safety programs to eliminate or minimize hazzard in the company and other losses due to accidents, injuries and property damage while eliminating on-site unsafe practices and conditions.
3. Develop a culture to anticipate and prevent hazardous conditions by developing controls and solutions for HSE management systems program.
4. Handle safety assessments and deploy corrective measures to minimize hazard risk profile.
5. HSE should coordinate / work with employees to understand and address workers safety concerns, interact with managers to develop responses to workers safety concerns, including implementation of safety controls to eliminate work place hazards.
6. Able to participate and support onsite safety teams (if any) such as the emergency response team, medical response team and site safety committees.
7. Administer safety policies and develop uniform safety practices as per long term company safety goals.
8. Investigate incidents, determine root cause and develop corrective actions.
9. Manage reports and present summaries to management with suggested solutions.
10. Execute environmental management process such as chemical and waste management and pollution prevention.
11. Handle industrial, corporate hygiene, equipment protection, machine guarding and other health and safety programs.
12. Offer quality products, materials and equipment's safely and effectively and decrease errors and eliminate accidents.
13. Able to implement comprehensive and documented system that will ensure all works are conducted safely.
14. Establishes control measures fully implemented to prevent incidents including near misses.
15. Implement a set of work practices / procedures accessible for monitoring and improving the safety and health of all aspects of operations.
16. Review of client / contractors design HAZOP and project execution planning.
17. Able to perform a HAZID with all contractors and sub-contractors which will identify critical activities.
18. Monitor continuously for any unsafe conditions and potential hazards.
19. Monitor all key activities daily, attend tool box talks when necessary and to continually review all procedures and checking that personnel are properly trained and understand potential hazards at the workplace and can follow the SWP’s.
20. Good judgment in what type of risk / safety control to implement (i.e. IOSH, NEBOSH HSW or NEBOSH IGN).
21. Perform other additional tasks assigned by the department head or by the Management.
22. Ensure compliance with the company’s policies, rules and procedure related to Health, Safety and Environmental Management.
     

Requisite Qualifications:
 

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and holds NEBOSH / IOSH or OSHA Certificate or equivalent.
   

Experience Requirement:
 

• Graduate with 5-8 Years of Experience
• For UAE National : 0-2 Years of Experience

• Good practical and technical skills and can work as part of team
• Hold a valid UAE driving license
