High School Science Teacher LTS (anticipated February 23 through June 2026)

Job Description:

The Wakefield Public Schools is seeking an enthusiastic, student-centered, long-term substitute Science teacher at Wakefield Memorial High School from February 23 through June 2026 (approximate dates). Candidates will be responsible for teaching Biology, Science Topics, and Anatomy/Physiology to students in grades 9-12.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Holds necessary state certification for job assignment; prior job experience is preferred

Description of Duties:

  • Teach a variety of Science courses to students in grades 9–12, utilizing curricula adopted by the School Committee and other appropriate learning activities.
  • Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment.
  • Create a differentiated environment that supports the learning styles and emotional needs of all students.
  • Communicate with parents, administration, and students regarding academic content, expectations, and student progress.
  • Participate in curriculum and other developmental programs.
  • Evaluate each pupil’s progress in comprehension of the science curriculum through various measures of performance to include, but not be limited to, tests, quizzes, presentations and projects.
  • Attend to all teacher duties and professional development, including PLCs, department meetings, and school/district professional development.
