Job Description:

The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) is in search of a strategic, thorough, HR leader to oversee payroll, benefits, and leave management for the agency.

DUTIES:
  • Oversee the processing of payroll for 2300+ NDCS team members, including implementation of agency pay rules
  • Ensure agency is complying with rules and regulations, as well as applicable labor contracts for leave administration
  • Ensure HR partners are providing accurate benefit information to current teammates and new hires
  • Advise agency personnel of applicable policies, labor contracts, rules and regulations, and applicable employment rulings; in addition to developing and implementing agency policies and procedures
  • Direct, train, and evaluate assigned HR payroll staff


Requirements/Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a related field and one year of related experience. Experience may be substituted for education on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications: Four years of diverse, increasingly responsible HR experience, two of which must be in a supervisory capacity. Experience using Workday, KRONOS, and/or other timekeeping systems for the processing of payroll, including 24/7 operations. Experience ensuring compliance with benefit implementation and various leave provisions, including FMLA. Experience interpreting policies and labor contracts.

Other: Applicants accepting a job offer must pass the following pre-employment exams in this order: medical exam and, at a randomly announced time, pass a drug test. Once at the Staff Training Academy, must successfully complete the fully paid NE Corrections Training Program.
