Yusen Terminals LLC (“YTI,” based in Terminal Island (Los Angeles), CA, is wholly owned by Ocean Network Express (ONE), with office headquarters in Singapore.
YTI operates a state-of-the-art marine container terminal in the Port of Los Angeles. YTI was established in 1991 at the Port’s Berths 212-218. The services we provide are stevedoring and terminal operations for Premier Alliance (ONE, HMM and Yang Ming lines) as well as slot chartering from Evergreen, CMA-CGM, APL, COSCO and OOCL. We also have independent vessel operators Cool Carrier and Hapag Lloyd. As a full-service marine terminal, YTI provides modern technology, equipment, on-dock rail, storage facilities and Alternative Maritime Power (AMP®). YTI’s highly experienced management team are devoted to efficient cargo handling with a focus on service delivery and customer satisfaction. We currently operate 10 Post Panamax Gantry cranes including 6 state-of-the-art Super Post Panamax Gantry cranes. YTI is focused on giving all our customers a reliable “Best-in-Class” service delivery as well as a complete suite of marine terminal services to the shipping and transportation community.

Role Summary

The HR Business Partner (HRBP) serves as a strategic advisor and hands-on partner to business leaders, aligning HR initiatives with organizational goals. This role focuses on driving talent strategies, employee engagement, and compliance while building scalable HR processes that support growth and retention in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

What You Will Do:

  • Act as a strategic advisor to leadership and managers.
  • Drive HR initiatives in talent management, employee engagement, and compliance.
  • Partner on workforce planning, performance management, and succession strategies.
  • Manage employee relations and foster a positive, inclusive culture.
  • Implement training programs and monitor effectiveness.
  • Ensure compliance with California labor laws and HR best practices.

What You Will Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resource administration, Business Administration, Organizational Psychology or related field from 4-year accredited university required.

  • 6+ years of broad-based HR experience with progressive HRBP experience providing advice, counsel and coaching to senior leaders with the ability to influence and champion effective leadership and change, developing strong business partnerships to support achievement of business objectives within assigned business groups; union experience a plus.
  • Professional certification by the Society for Human Resources Management a plus
  • Skilled with computer applications such as Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Outlook, creative thinker with the ability to formulate and express a contrarian viewpoint.
  • Experience in strategic HR support for small to mid-sized organizations.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law, compliance, and HR best practices.
  • Experience in training program design and implementation.

$110,000-$130,000/year + Bonus
