    Position Summary:
    This position works closely with the Human Resources Employment Specialists, Lead Human Resources Generalist, and the Executive Director of Human Resources to ensure compliance with all Human Resources Policies,
    Regulations, Federal and State employment laws. The Human Resources Department Specialist has responsibilities in the following functional areas: training, volunteer processing, compliance videos, employment law compliance
    audits, and recruiting & hiring.

    Essential Functions:
    • Works closely with the Human Resources Employment Specialists and assists when necessary.
    • Assists with ensuring compliance with all Arizona Federal and State employment rules, regulations and laws.
    • Onboards all volunteers.
    • Prepares and handles unemployment claims and issues.
    • Develops and maintains a close working relationship with the Payroll Department personnel.
    • Prepares the mandatory annual compliance video process and tracks staff completions reporting findings to administrators/supervisors as appropriate, with a goal of reaching 100% compliance.
    • Prepares special video trainings for staff when appropriate and necessary.
    • Assists with recruitment process including placing advertisements and attending recruitment fairs.
    • Assists with job interview preparation.
    • Audits IVP Fingerprint Clearance Cards for volunteers.
    • Meets with employees regarding issues taking the initial notes for documentation of the issues for the Lead Human Resources Generalist. Coordinates and schedules meetings with the Executive Director of Human Resources with candidates regarding issues brought forward and/or discovered on background checks and/or references.
    • Assists with the Classified Tempe Employee Council (CTEC) elections, scheduling, attendance, minutes and special projects.
    • Assists with Individual Performance Incentive Program (IPIP) scheduling and tracking.
    • Prepares Personnel Actions for Consent Agenda for Governing Board Meetings.
    • Prepares and analyzes narrative and statistical reports necessary to meet District, agency and Human Resources requirements.
    • Develops and maintains files of correspondence, records, and other documents; maintains control files for matters in progress.
    • Works in coordination with the Lead Human Resources Generalist and the Human Resources Employment Specialists to archive personnel files in the vault according to the regulations put forth by the Arizona State Library.
    • Maintains and orders office supplies including Print Shop requests.
    • Participates in development of departmental goals, objectives and systems.
    • Provides coverage for other Human Resources Department staff as needed.
    • Performs any and all other duties as assigned.
    Training and Experience:
    High School Diploma.
    • Two to four years of clerical/secretarial experience or business college study or similar program of study preferred.
    • Three to five years experience in Human Resources at a public school district, human resources area preferred.
    • Specialized training in employment law, compensation, organizational planning and development, employee relations, safety, training and preventative labor relations preferred.
    • Experience with Visions, Vector Solutions, and Frontline preferred.
