HR Manager – Compliance-Focused (Manufacturing)

We are a Michigan-based manufacturing company seeking a highly organized, compliance-focused HR Manager. This role leads day-to-day HR operations with a strong emphasis on employment law compliance, MIOSHA documentation, safety program support, and maintaining accurate HR records.

This position is ideal for an HR professional who excels at structure, documentation, and keeping organizations audit-ready.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with all Michigan and federal employment regulations (MIOSHA, OSHA, FMLA, ADA, PMLA, FLSA, EEOC).
  • Maintain and update HR policies, handbook, job descriptions, required postings, and personnel files.
  • Administer FMLA, ADA accommodations, and Michigan Paid Medical Leave.
  • Manage onboarding, orientation, new hire paperwork, and HRIS accuracy.
  • Support safety programs through MIOSHA-required documentation and training record management.
  • Maintain OSHA 300/300A logs, accident reports, and workers’ compensation documentation.
  • Conduct internal HR audits (I-9, personnel files, payroll classifications, training matrices).
  • Coordinate required annual trainings (HazCom, LOTO refreshers, PPE, forklift evaluations, harassment prevention).
  • Assist supervisors with documentation, corrective action, and employee relations support.
  • Manage recruiting: job postings, interviews, screenings, background checks, and new hire processing.

Qualifications

  • 3–7+ years of HR experience; manufacturing or industrial setting strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of MIOSHA/OSHA, FMLA, ADA, EEOC, and wage/hour rules.
  • High attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
  • Experience with benefits administration and workers’ compensation.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to handle sensitive issues professionally.
  • SHRM-CP, PHR, or related certification preferred but not required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
