General Purpose and Scope:

To achieve this, we are looking for an HR professional dedicated to developing our people and fostering a culture that aligns with our core values. As a Human Resources Manager based in the USVI (St. Thomas preferred), you will be pivotal in providing strategic direction to HR planning and operations, offering a wide range of HR solutions that drive our organizational culture and values.

The successful candidate must have proven experience establishing and maintaining relationships with the union, with the ability to successfully negotiate matters in the best interest of the company as well as unionized employees.

Duties and Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Deliver One Communications USVI overall HR strategy, ensuring a culture of high employee engagement in alignment with strategic business plans.
  • Act as a trusted advisor, coaching business leadership on effective leadership and performance.
  • Utilize influence and negotiation strategies to secure stakeholder support for key initiatives, including our partnership with our union.
  • Apply effective project management to align stakeholders, ensuring timely and budget-conscious deliverables.
  • Drive employee engagement in line with One Communication’s vision, fostering a collaborative workforce based on shared goals and accountability.
  • Lead and manage change across client groups, influencing organizational culture and implementing change programs as needed.
  • Drive the annual performance management process, contributing to a high-performance culture.
  • Oversee the annual compensation planning process with leadership, ensuring alignment with business impact and contributions.
  • Lead employee relations resolutions, actively responding to and addressing concerns in a timely manner.
  • Conduct thorough investigations and make recommendations based on findings, partnering with HR leadership and legal counsel.
  • Champion Diversity and Inclusion initiatives in partnership with the HR leadership team.
  • Assess company-wide developmental needs, driving training initiatives, and contributing to HR process improvements, focusing on automation and scalability.
  • Administer human resource planning, providing direction and counsel on workforce planning, performance management, employee relations, and policy advice.
  • Work effectively as a team member with other members of management and the HR team, exemplifying our desired culture and philosophies of the organization and encouraging feedback and continuous improvement in HR processes.
  • Naturally, other duties and responsibilities may arise and will be assigned as required.

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of five (5) years’ Human Resource Management experience. PHR, SPHR, or GPHR Certification preferred.
  • Proven experience within a unionized environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate business needs into action, driving successful outcomes aligned with organizational strategy.
  • Proven experience working with a robust HRIS
  • Proven track record of working independently in a fast-paced environment while leading an HR team
  • Seasoned facilitation skills for live in-person and online events.
  • Strong working knowledge of adult learning theory.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High level of self-awareness and ability to interact effectively with a diverse employee population.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a customer service focus.
  • Tech-savvy with the ability to adapt to new technology.
  • Strong organizational skills with great attention to detail.
  • Highly skilled in the use of Microsoft Office Suite of products.
  • Ability to travel.

Physical Requirements:

  • Sedentary work that involves sitting for substantial periods of time
  • Close visual acuity to analyze and transcribe data
  • Effectively communicate orally and exchange information
  • Regularly typing, reading a computer monitor, reaching, talking, and hearing
  • Occasionally standing, walking, driving, carrying
  • Ability to occasionally move/lift up to 25 pounds if needed
  • Low noise level in the work environment
