Job Summary:
The Human Resource Manager will perform or supervise all aspects of the organization’s Human Resources functions, including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, and compliance with HR-related laws and regulations. They will also play a key role in developing and implementing HR strategies to support Urban Ventures’ overall goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Understands and implements the organization's human resource and talent strategy particularly as it relates to current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning.
- Provides support and guidance to staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodation, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations.
- Manages the talent acquisition process, which may include recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of qualified job applicants, particularly for managerial, exempt, and professional roles; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
- Analyzes trends in compensation and benefits; researches and proposes competitive base and incentive pay programs to ensure the organization attracts and retains top talent.
- Creates learning and development programs and initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for employees. This includes training managers and delivering presentations to employees.
- Works alongside supervisors and leaders to ensure proper handling and adequate documentation of employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommends best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Additional eligibility qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in Human Resources
- High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor's degree in human resources or commensurate work experience required
- SHRM-SCP or similar certification desired
Physical and Environmental Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, reach, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, and keyboard
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work
- Light to moderate lifting may be required
- Regular, predictable attendance is required

- Urban Ventures Campus based at 2924 Fourth Ave South, Minneapolis
Work hours:
- 36 hours per week
- Exempt
- Monday–Friday, between 8 am – 5 pm
- Occasional weekends and evenings for events
- Occasional travel to work functions
