Position Description

Aging and Disability Services, a division of the Human Services Department has received Veteran, Seniors and Human Services Levy funds to hire a Multidisciplinary Team Coordinator for the Seattle-King County Elder Abuse Multidisciplinary Team (MDT). We are seeking a dynamic, innovative strategic advisor to join our team. This multidisciplinary team is a powerful, person-centered intervention that brings together professionals from across disciplines and systems to respond to complex cases of elder abuse. The team (comprised of prosecutors, a detective, APS investigators, ADS case managers, a victim advocate, a geriatrician and a forensic analyst, among others) will accept cases involving elder and vulnerable adult abuse, neglect and financial exploitation throughout King County.

As our ideal team member, you will have a deep understanding of the range of providers who interact with older adults. You are enthusiastic about this job opportunity and have demonstrated interest in issues pertaining to elder abuse and aging. You will also commit to thinking and acting “outside the box” to support the MDT and bring this team to the next level. This role is highly visible and requires well-developed facilitation and presentation skills.

You will have experience in project management and evaluation, data collection and reporting, and clinical expertise in working directly with older victims and/or their family members. You have strong boundaries and are experienced in handling sensitive, confidential case material.

The MDT Coordinator’s role will primarily be to: a) facilitate team meetings and oversee all operations of the team, including all reporting requirements for data collection and evaluation; b) coordinate outreach and training to the general public, medical and social service providers, law enforcement and other first responders; and c) serve as a link to professionals and the public.

The MDT Coordinator will co-locate between the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office located within the King County Courthouse and ADS offices and report to a Human Services Manager. This position is under review for Strategic Advisor 1 classification while the PDQ process is completed.

Job Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the day-to-day operations of Seattle-King County Elder Abuse MDT activities.
  • Field calls from professionals referring cases to the MDT, assist with completion of intake form, and determine whether case is appropriate for staffing.
  • Review cases screened out by APS on a regular basis; contact appropriate law enforcement agency, make referrals for services and to MDT, and reach out to victims as necessary.
  • Coordinate case presentations and facilitate MDT meetings (twice monthly at a minimum).Follow up on cases that have been presented for MDT staffing and coordinate additional follow-up and meetings as necessary.
  • Represent the MDT and its partners in building relationships with law enforcement, the medical community, the legal community, social service entities and other relevant agencies in King County.
  • Coordinate proactive outreach and trainings to build a comprehensive network of community, professional, banking, and government organizations to increase and improve collaborative referrals, consultations, and victim services.
  • Outreach proactively to priority populations to increase and improve referrals and victim services.
  • Collect, track and report data, including case data from MDT discussions, consultations, outreach, and contacts developed.
  • Track budget and collect data to ensure the MDT’s compliance with all reporting requirements.
  • Synthesize information gathered and data collected from cases reviewed in order to determine gaps in systemic response to reports of abuse, neglect, and exploitation, and make recommendations to ADS and PAO for MDT resource allocation and training.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Experience: Four years’ clinical experience involving interviewing, crisis intervention or case management with older adults. Experience in project management including data collection and evaluation. Strong oral and written communication skills.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in social services, psychology, sociology or related field (or a combination education and/or training and/or work experience which provides the ability to perform the work of the class.)

Certification/License: Current State of Washington driver's license required.

OR: An equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the position duties.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Enjoy working in multi-disciplinary teams. Experience mediating competing interests or conflicts between team members.
  • Foundational understanding of abuse, neglect and/or financial exploitation of older adults.
  • Skilled in program/project management including knowledge of qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis.
  • Ability to work effectively within diverse workgroups and diverse work cultures with proven ability to collaborate with first responders, medical providers, community-based services, law enforcement, prosecutors, court personnel and governmental agencies.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with a diverse range of clients, providers, policy makers, partners, and staff.
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Word, Adobe Pro, SharePoint, Excel, Airtable and PowerPoint and others as required.
  • Experience designing and providing training to adult learners.
  • Thorough understanding of race & social justice principals and impacts of systemic racism and oppression on communities served by the aging network.

The pay range for this position is $50.08 - $75.12 hourly.
