Clinical Care
- Act as a safe practitioner, demonstrating clinical excellence in all aspects of critical care nursing.
- Be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care needs.
- Deliver care prescribed by doctors as an associate nurse, including medication administration, monitoring, and therapeutic procedures.
- Attend consultant rounds, present patient condition updates, record instructions, and implement prescribed interventions.
- Ensure prevention and control of infections for patients and staff within the ICU.
- Monitor and operate specialized ICU equipment, ensuring proper functioning and patient safety.
- To assist clinicians on bedside procedures like Arterial line/CVP line/Urinary catheter, Intubation & Extubation, Starting & weaning ventilators and other lifesaving procedures.
Coordination & Communication
- Manage the ward/unit in the absence of senior staff, ensuring smooth functioning.
- Coordinate with the ward secretary regarding patient admissions, discharges, and billing activities.
- Liaise with other departments to ensure continuity of care.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, caregivers, and healthcare professionals, providing information and emotional support.
- Collaborates with interdepartmental teams to provide quality patient care.
- To regularly check emergency and crash cart medications.
Documentation & Administration
- Maintain accurate, timely, and complete patient records and clinical documentation.
- Raise requisitions related to treatments, consumables, and nursing procedures.
- Ensure the effective and judicious use of hospital resources in delivering patient care.
- Maintain patient confidentiality at all times in accordance with organizational policies.
Safety & Quality
- Ensure the safety and well-being of patients, staff, and visitors in the ICU.
- Follow hospital, national, and local standards, protocols, and guidelines in practice.
- Take responsibility for equipment used in patient care, ensuring maintenance and proper handling.
- Monitor all KPI applies to their location.
- Identify and report any safety hazards, equipment malfunctions, or incidents.
Education & Leadership
- Teach, mentor, and guide junior nursing staff and students in clinical practice.
- Support professional development through participation in training, workshops, and continuing education.
- Demonstrate teamwork, leadership, and responsibility in all situations.
