Job Description:
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented
Industrial Engineer
to join our manufacturing team. This role is critical in driving operational excellence through the implementation of Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives. The Industrial Engineer will work closely with Production leadership and cross-functional teams to eliminate waste, optimize processes, and enhance productivity across assembly, machine floor, and logistics operations.
Key Responsibilities:

Implement and uphold Industrial Engineering best practices

Conduct time studies using motion analysis and standard time data to maintain accurate job standards

Design and document standardized work instructions (e.g., bend, reach, grab tool – with time allocations)

Develop and maintain accurate workstation layouts using AutoCAD
-
Create and update part routings to ensure efficient flow to assembly locations
-
Drive continuous improvement by identifying and eliminating waste in assigned areas

Analyze bottlenecks and support throughput and productivity enhancements
-
Lead change management projects including line balancing and production trials
-
Monitor fault data and machine performance to identify top issues and downtime trends
-
Utilize GMOSS and APS tools for logistics and production reporting, cycle time analysis, and fault history
-
Collaborate with production teams to present data-driven solutions and improvement plans
-
Coach and train production team members on lean principles and standardized work
-
Optimize ergonomics and workstation setups for safety, efficiency, and comfort

Act as a trusted advisor to production teams, offering insights on faster and better ways to perform tasks

Build strong relationships across departments to foster a culture of collaboration and innovation
Day-to-Day:
-
Spend approximately
50% of time on the production floor
and
50% in the office
-
Run and participate in frequent meetings with cross-functional teams
-
Be assigned to a specific area (assembly, machine floor, or logistics) and own its IE responsibilities
-
Monitor machine throughput, fault data, and part storage efficiency
-
Design job elements and workflows based on takt time and standard time data
-
Package and present performance reports and improvement proposals to production leadership
-
Support weekend shifts (up to 2 per month) and be flexible to work other shifts as needed
Must Haves
-
BS, Industrial Engineering
-
Basic design skills using AutoCAD, or related CAD software
-
1-2+ years of experience working in a manufacturing environment
-
Implementing Lean Manufacturing concepts and continuous improvement
-
Experience conducting time studies, motion analysis, ergonomic analysis, evaluating bottleneck areas, and/or supporting throughout
Plusses:

Any experience in a union environment

Experience with project management and time management
Compensation:
$32/hr to $55/hr.
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
