Summary

The IT Infrastructure Engineer will play a critical role in setting up Tata Electronics’ first semiconductor fabrication facility by designing, implementing, securing, and maintaining mission-critical IT infrastructure. This infrastructure will support core fab systems such as MES/MIS, CIM/FA, APC/FDC/SPC, YMS, RMS, and QMS, ensuring seamless integration with factory automation platforms. The scope includes Systems, Network/ISP, Database, Storage & Backup, Data Centers/BCP/DR, and Site/AV/Power components to deliver high availability, low latency, and robust cybersecurity for 24×7 fab operations. The position demands strong collaboration with factory automation, process engineering, and equipment teams to enable a world-class, highly reliable manufacturing environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Administer Windows/Linux servers, virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V), and container platforms; implement OS hardening and patching.
  • Design and maintain segmented network architecture (Core/Distribution/Access, VLANs, QoS); manage ISP connectivity and redundancy; implement SD-WAN and secure remote access.
  • Support fab-related databases (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL) for MES, YMS, RMS; ensure backup integrity and performance tuning.
  • Deploy and manage SAN/NAS systems, RAID configurations, and backup/restore solutions; execute DR drills and maintain RPO/RTO compliance.
  • Operate on-prem and co-location data centers; develop and maintain Business Continuity Plans and Disaster Recovery strategies.
  • Coordinate structured cabling, AV systems for NOC/meeting rooms; ensure UPS, power redundancy, and environmental monitoring for critical IT assets.
  • Support MES/CIM/FA, APC (R2R), FDC, SPC, YMS, RMS, and QMS platforms.
  • Maintain secure OT connectivity (SECS/GEM, EDA, OPC-UA).
  • Implement Zero Trust security, SIEM monitoring, and vulnerability management.
  • Automated provisioning, configuration and scripting (PowerShell/Python).


Essential Skills & Attributes

  • 5–10 years in IT infrastructure.
  • Expertise in:
  • System: Windows/Linux, virtualization, containerization.
  • Network/ISP: Routing, VLANs, QoS, SD-WAN, ISP coordination.
  • Database: Oracle/SQL/PostgreSQL administration.
  • Storage & Backup: SAN/NAS, DR orchestration.
  • Data Centers/BCP/DR: Multi-site resilience planning.
  • Site/AV/Power: UPS, cabling, AV systems.


Educational Qualification

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics/Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.


Preferred Experience

  • Semiconductor foundry environment experience
  • Familiarity with fab systems and OT protocols (SECS/GEM, EDA).
  • Kubernetes, container security.
  • ITIL/ITSM, ISO 27001 compliance.
