Osawatomie State Hospital is licensed by the State of Kansas to provide care and treatment for adults diagnosed with psychiatric disorders regardless of ability to pay. There are currently two hospitals on the Osawatomie campus in Miami county: Osawatomie State Hospital (OSH) and Adair Acute Care (AAC). Adair Acute Care are a 60-bed facility, certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

All employees are expected to work in a harmonious and cooperative fashion with other staff to provide efficient and effective customer service: to use free time as available to assist other staff in the completion of work assignments and perform other tasks as needed; to contribute to a positive work environment through a positive, helpful, courteous demeanor towards staff, customers and the general public; and to adhere to appropriate standards of conduct regarding the use of leave, reports to work on time and in the designated fashion.

The purpose of the Information Technology Manager is to be responsible for the management of multiple information and communication technologies to support the business and clinical functions of the agency for all employees and patients of OSH and AAC. Accurate and timely provision of critical services to Agency customers depends on employees that have access to and training to use the IT systems in this environment. This position is highly complex, requiring intense analytical thought in a specialized field. This position supervises the IT staff at OSH and helps lead, direct, and align the team towards overall State IT Strategies. This position sits on the HS-EBIT leadership team and can help any other hospital when needed.

The essential functions of this position may require physical strength to frequently push, pull, twist, bend, squat, walk, stand for extended periods of time, lift and/or restrain residents with or without assistance and respond to aggressive resident behavior with specific, trained techniques. Be able to observe and respond to residents in distress.

Osawatomie State Hospital Adair Acute Care is funded in part by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and is subject to requirements bestowed by Federal and State levels of government conditions of participation.


Position Summary & Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Plans, directs and evaluates the data/voice network services which include implementation, routine maintenance and troubleshooting of data and voice network services.
  • Directs or secures analysis of net traffic, cable configuration, topologies and determines changes required.
  • Develops, writes, and submits bid specifications for network services.
  • Utilizes knowledge of local, State and Federal standards and practices of resident care and knowledge of information technology developments to ensure optimum strategic information technology planning for the facility.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Three years advising and assisting computer users in a distributed computing environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1 year or more experience in leading a team of technical staff; working with Exectutive Management of an organization, and with managing multiple concurrent projects - include information on launching complex software and infrastructure systems.
  • 1 year or more experience implementing network and server infrastructure through all phases of project management from initiation to acceptance.
  • 1 year or more experience in working with highly structured and regulated environment such as the medical or financial industries.
  • 1 year or more experience with conducting and directing research into IT issues and products, and to take initiative in the development and completion of projects.
