Position Overview
We're seeking a Curriculum Development Specialist to design, refine, and implement individualized math learning programs for K-8 students. This role combines educational expertise with our unique brain-based approach to help students who have experienced academic challenges build confidence and competency in mathematics.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop individualized math curriculum plans tailored to each student's learning style, cognitive development, and emotional needs
- Create and refine instructional materials, worksheets, and assessment tools aligned with brain-based learning principles
- Evaluate student progress through ongoing assessment and adjust curriculum pacing accordingly
- Develop scaffolded learning sequences that build foundational math skills systematically
- Collaborate with instructors to ensure curriculum implementation reflects our organizational values
- Maintain detailed student learning records and progress documentation
- Research and integrate innovative teaching methodologies that support diverse learners
- Create parent communication materials explaining student progress and curriculum goals
Required Qualifications
- Graduate-level training in education, curriculum development, instructional design, or related field (Master's degree preferred)
- 2+ years hands-on experience working with K-8 students in educational settings
- Deep understanding of elementary and middle school math standards and developmental progression
- Experience designing individualized learning plans for students with diverse learning needs
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in educational assessment methods
- Bilingual capabilities (Spanish/English) strongly preferred to serve diverse families
Ideal Candidate Possesses
- Background in cognitive science, educational psychology, or brain-based learning approaches
- Experience supporting students who have struggled academically or experienced math anxiety
- Crisis intervention or emotional support training
- Understanding of holistic, consciousness-based educational philosophies
- Passion for addressing not just what students learn, but how they learn
- Ability to work with students experiencing learning differences or emotional barriers to learning
Compensation & Requirements
- $20.00 - $26.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications
- All applicants will be required to:
- Take a math literacy test to demonstrate math proficiency
- Provide proof of work authorization
- Pass a comprehensive background check
