Job Summary
We are looking for a compassionate, dedicated, and patient Instructor to join our team @ our Private School for Children with special needs. This role involves providing specialized instruction and support to students with a variety of learning, emotional, behavioral, and physical disabilities. The ideal candidate is passionate about inclusive education, skilled in differentiated instruction, and committed to helping every student reach their full potential.
Duties
- Instructor delivers specialized instruction in a variety of settings (inclusive classrooms, resource rooms, self-contained environments) based on student IEP goals.
- Instructor adapts general education curriculum to accommodate individual learning styles, strengths, and challenges.
- Instructor uses evidence-based instructional strategies to improve student learning and foster academic, social, and emotional growth.
- Instructor assesses student progress regularly using formal and informal methods and adjust instruction accordingly.
- Instructor provides behavioral support and classroom management using positive behavior interventions and supports (PBIS) and applied behavior analysis (ABA) techniques.
- Instructor collaborates with therapists, counselors, and paraprofessionals to ensure coordinated support for students.
- Instructor communicates effectively with families to keep them informed of student progress and support strategies.
- Instructor maintains accurate and timely records of assessments, progress reports, accommodations, and communications.
- Instructor participates in multidisciplinary team meetings, and professional development activities to stay current with best practices in special education.
Experience
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities, particularly those with autism or developmental disabilities.
- Knowledge of early childhood education principles and practices.
- Proficiency in behavioral management techniques and applied behavior analysis (ABA).
- Classroom experience is highly desirable.
- Skills in tutoring, academic advising, or mentoring students in various subjects including literacy education and math.
- Experience in recreational therapy or physical education teaching is a plus.
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with students, families, educators, and community resources.
- A passion for advocating for the rights of individuals with disabilities through various means including library services or child welfare initiatives. Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
