Interface Engineer – Telecom Systems

Role Purpose

The Interface Engineer – Telecom Systems is responsible for managing, coordinating, and tracking all technical interfaces related to Telecom (TEL) systems across the project lifecycle. The role ensures seamless integration between TEL systems and all internal and external stakeholders, including Employer systems and consortium partners, from design through Testing & Commissioning.


Required Profile

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Strong technical background across all Telecom (TEL) systems, including but not limited to:
  • Access Control Systems (ACS)
  • Closed Circuit Television (CCTV)
  • Public Address System (PAS)
  • Perimeter Intrusion Detection System (PIDS)
  • Monitoring and Control System (MCS)
  • Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS)
  • Telephone Systems
  • Backbone Communication Network (BCN)
  • Any other related telecom subsystems
  • Good knowledge of TEL interface data, including:
  • Alarm interfaces and signal mapping
  • Communication protocols
  • Civil first fix requirements
  • Power load calculations
  • Cable routing and containment
  • Network architecture and requirements
  • Cybersecurity considerations for telecom systems
  • Strong coordination, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple interfaces across project stages and stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities


Interface Coordination & Management

  • Collect, consolidate, and manage interface data between the TEL technical team and all internal and external stakeholders, including:
  • Employer teams (Civil and MEP)
  • Consortium partners (GSMR, DSPM, AFC, RST, REL, DWE)
  • Act as the focal point for TEL interface-related matters within the project.

Planning & Deliverables

  • Ensure timely preparation, submission, and circulation of TEL interface data in line with project schedules and contractual milestones.
  • Coordinate and follow up TEL interface requirements throughout all project phases:
  • Design
  • Procurement
  • Installation
  • Testing & Commissioning (T&C)
  • Review TEL deliverables to confirm readiness and completeness of interface-related documentation, including:
  • Single Line Diagrams (SLDs)
  • Equipment locations and layouts
  • Installation and mounting details
  • Equipment arrangements and room layouts
  • Power load schedules
  • Device locations and coordination drawings

Interface Tracking & Reporting

  • Track and monitor TEL interface status with Employer systems, including:
  • Doors and Access Control interfaces
  • Fire Alarm Systems
  • Acoustic systems
  • PSTN connections
  • Building Management System (BMS)
  • Cable routing and containment
  • Equipment locations and spatial coordination
  • Elevator CCTV and Intercom systems
  • Track and monitor TEL interface status with Consortium systems, including:
  • MCS synchronization
  • DSPM alarm monitoring
  • GSM-R network integration
  • Shelters and telecom rooms
  • OCS poles and related infrastructure
  • Identify interface risks, clashes, or gaps and support timely resolution in coordination with relevant parties.
